This place is a total scam. You sell policies based on comparison summaries, which grossly mischaracterize the coverage. For instance, apparently cancelled flights are only covered if the destination airport ceases ALL operations for 48 Hours. WHEN IN MODERN HISTORY HAS THAT EVER HAPPENED? Of course that is not what people think when they read your summary that says "we'll cover your cancelled flight". Total scam. TBD if we file a complaint with our state insurance board.

Overall, the claim process was easier than I expected. Besides having to send a few documents more than once, there were no issues. The servicer has a secure website that allows documents to be uploaded, rather than sending them insecurely via e-mail, or cumbersomely via fax.

If you take nothing else away from this review, please know that you DO NOT want to purchase travel insurance from this particular company. I had a trip planned in Spring 2022 which was canceled by the trip organizer. I ended up getting most of my money back from the organizer, except for my flight + one night hotel stay. Therefore, my insurance claim was only for this smaller portion...the flight + one night hotel. It took over 8 months to get resolved, and it was only because I was persistent. I was told they were backlogged so I was respectful and gave them plenty of time to respond to me (ie, 4-6 weeks at a time). There was no follow-up on their end, I know they just wanted to ignore the claim and hope it goes away. They were so disorganized, asking me for the same documents over and over. I called in twice and my call was "escalated" both times. Escalated is a joke, nothing different happened. I was also asked verbally about the same information that I provided via email numerous times. Finally, I asked them for my money back...that's when they decided to take my claim seriously, I guess. I would NOT recommend this company unless you want to add over 8 months of stress and hassle to your life. Looks elsewhere.

We bought the insurance for hurricane coverage, ended up needing to leave a day early due to forecasted landfall of Dorian. Covered the unused night at the condo, the only loss of the trip.

Make sure to add many extra days to the end dates on your trip. I was denied my travel delay claim coming home because the delay caused me to be one day after the date I said I was returning. It took John Hancock 3 weeks to respond and that was after I had to send an email requesting any kind or correspondence requesting letting me know they received my claim. I will say the employees were kind and helpful when on the phone with them.

Thank you for your review. We apologize for the 3 week delay in the response time. However your policy does define the expiration date of your policy as listed below:
"When Your Coverage Ends:
Coverage is effective for the stated term shown in the confirmation of benefits. In addition, Your coverage will end at 11:59 P.M. local time on the earliest of the following dates:
(a) the date You cancel Your Covered Trip;
(b) the Scheduled Return Date as stated on the travel tickets;
(c) the date You return to Your origination point if prior to the Scheduled Return Date; or
(d) the date You leave or change Your Covered Trip (unless due to Unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances covered by the Policy)."

Thank you for your reply. Back on July 23rd, 2019 we sent you an email asking for additional claim information if you wished us to assign an "Anytime" advocate to review the claim file, but you did not reply. If you have changed your mind and would like InsureMyTrip to look into that claim, would you please reply to the email requesting that additional claim information back on July 23rd.
They needed more information on the reason why I filed a claim however instead of emailing me it was emailed to the library where the claim was scanned from. I called because of no response and found out this happened. I was also not reimbursed for the airfare because Delta gave me a credit (which I probably won’t use by 10/19) due to the situation.

Thank you for your review. You bring up an interesting point about insuring the cost of prepaid and nonrefundable airfare, many travelers often have questions about this as well. Comprehensive policies cover 100% of the prepaid nonrefundable trip costs as long as all of those expenses are insured. When it comes to airfare and insuring the expense on your policy, in the event of a claim you have the option to either accept the airline credit or deny the credit and file a claim for that full amount insured on the policy with the insurance provider. By denying the credit and filing with the insurance, you are able to be reimbursed the out of pocket expense from the insurance and not held to using the credit by a certain time with the airline. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 800-487-4722.
We spoke with a claims representative who was very professional. We filled out the forms, checked in for a status update, got a professional response and a check soon thereafter in the exact amount we had expected. We were very pleased and grateful for the support and service. You can use me as a reference.
