Our cruise was cancelled due to bankruptcy of the travel agent. Insurance did not cover it. We did not go on the cruise and none of our out of pocket expenses were covered. Insurance was worthless. Claim was denied. Never thought this would happen and didn't realize until it did that we were not covered. Would at least have expected to get a refund for not using the insurance. We realize now that travel insurance does not cover a lot of potential situations. Read the fine print.

We are sorry to hear that you had to cancel your trip. Financial default coverage will cover the unforeseen bankruptcy of an airline, cruise line, or tour operator. Sadly, the policies on our site do not include Travel Agents under this coverage. For Cancellation due to this reason, a policy that included Cancel For Any Reason would be needed.
There are typically 3 conditions that must be met to purchase a Cancel For Any Reason Rider: Purchase the policy within 10 - 21 days of First Trip Payment; Insure ALL prepaid and non-refundable travel expenses prior to departure; Trip arrangements must be canceled more than 48 -72 hours prior to the departure date. If you meet all 3 of these conditions, this benefit will typically reimburse you 75% of your trip cost, unless otherwise noted.

They promise to process claims within 30 business days. After the 30 business days were up, no response from them. I had to escalate the issue with Insuremytrip customer care.

Thank you for submitting your review. April Travel Protection has advised us that you did not submit receipts with your claim. Since the incurred expense was minimal, you indicated that the provider does not typically provide receipts. You were also unable to provide them with a copy of your credit card statement so April Travel Protection denied your claim.
Of course, we never wish to hear that a claim has been denied. However, verification of payment is a requirement of the claim process for all companies including April Travel Protection.
Please call InsureMyTrip at 800-487-4722 if you do find your receipt. You can always re-open your claim.

After further review, this claim was not submitted in a timely manner by a customer service agent who is no longer employed at APRIL. Our team requested for your claim to be expedited by our adjustors and it was processed in nine business days. During the claims processing time of nine days, our adjustors submitted an Items Needed letter for the receipts of the purchases made while the luggage was delayed. The receipts were not supplied, which resulted in a denied claim.
Per the policy terms and conditions, “All claims must be verified by the Common Carrier who must certify the delay or misdirection and receipts for the purchase or replacement of necessary personal effects must accompany any claim.
