It was only one week before my cruise commenced when I had to cancel due to ill health.
Within weeks of submitting my claim I received the full amount due - no complications.
Impressed !!

Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars on the "all items covered" and "promptly and fairly" questions was because the checks I received indicated there was a letter coming AND I expected a third check for incidentals. After waiting till after the holidays and not receiving a third check or a letter I called and found out the letter was actually an email and it had been sent to an incorrect email address. It took a day or so for the email to be resent and it explained that incidentals were not covered by the policy I purchased. The explanation of everything else covered was fair and reasonable.

We had a claim based on an ear infection and sudden illness my daughter developed during the trip. The claim forms were very confusing as most of it didn't apply well to our situation. I informed the insurance company of the claim on the day we saw the doctor at the resort and the person I spoke to assured me we were covered. We would have taken our daughter to the doctor anyway - but I wanted to make sure I informed the company if that was going to be required. As soon as we returned from the trip I submitted a claim in writing. It was rejected and I was asked to first submit my claim to our health insurance provider in the states. When I received that company's response, I was finally able to submit a full claim under the travel insurance policy. It took about three months to get our claim paid. I will use travel insurance again, but I was under the impression the travel policy provided primary coverage for the medical claim, so I was irritated to have to make a claim through our usual carrier. However, it worked out in the end - just not real quickly. People who easily get discouraged and put off may not have carried the claim all the way through and gotten paid. I always send correspondence to insurance companies by certified mail. Another hassle, but it avoids a contention that your documents weren't received.

Thank you very much for providing this information for your fellow travelers. There is no doubt that claims forms may be confusing to complete, but it's good to know that you were fully reimbursed for your medical expenses by the insurance company. You should also keep in mind that InsureMyTrip has advocates that are available to assist in the future should you need help on a claim.
I actually bought this plan for two different trips. The first time I bought it we had to cancel our trip at the last minute due to my husband getting unexpectedly sick. I called in, spoke to a live person, got the claim form, and started cancelling all our plans. The claim form had to have a short section completed by the doctor and the rest I filled out. While the form did require a significant amount of paperwork (pulling original reservation receipts, credit card receipts, cancellation emails, etc.) and took me probably a good 3-5 hours to complete (and I am a fairly organized traveler with all of this stuff handy - but it was a two week trip with multiple vendors organized over several months so had lots of documents to locate), I could not have been happier with the end result. 100% reimbursement of my claims, no issues whatsoever. I received a check in the mail a few weeks after submitting my form. They covered my nonrefundable fares, change fees for the airlines, hotel deposits, etc.
I was extremely happy with the coverage and would definitely buy this coverage again having had the worst happen and come through relatively unscathed. The insurance more than paid for itself as I was not out of pocket anything for the missed trip other than the cost of the insurance itself.

I was ill and could not go on my trip. When I contacted customer service the first time I did not feel the first agent was very friendly. I did contact them two other times and the agents a spoke to were much nicer. I submitted all requested info and claim was processed in about 21 days.

I received the maximum amount for a claim that was for considerably more, including hotel and meal expenditures. I am generally very happy with InsureMyTrip, but I guess I was not clear on what was actually covered under the Bronze plan. I thought hotels and meals were part of the plan.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that your trip was delayed due to a flight cancellation. The John Hancock Bronze plan does reimburse additional expenses incurred for an unplanned overnight hotel stay, meals, and transportation.
Unfortunately, the amount you claimed exceeded the maximum $500 limit on the travel delay benefit.
Please continue to call InsureMyTrip for assistance in selecting travel insurance plan. We would be happy to help you compare and review policies with a greater maximum limit for travel delay.
