AIG wouldn’t cover my claim because I had moved up our trip by two weeks and hadn’t updated the dates accordingly. I claim not fair! We still had the same cruise trip and airfare expenses. They used this technicality to avoid payment.

Thank you for leaving a review of AIG Travel. You mentioned in your review that you had made changes to your trip plans but did not update the policy to reflect these changes. The policy needs to have correct travel details in order for coverage to apply. In the event that your trip plans change, you need to contact our call center for assistance with updating the policy to reflect the correct trip information. This should be done immediately once changes are made. Our licensed agent call center can be reached at 888-459-4501.
Since filing a claim my wife, Gail, has done the following: Initial claim: November 2022; had to get a agent to help get a claim number on line and December 13, 2022 submitted the requested information and received a confirmation that documents submitted were received; December 23, 2022 requesting the same information; January 6 received identical correspondence from Brandyn Dang requesting more information which was sent AGAIN; January 18 email from AIG they needed more time to review my claim, January 26 sent email to AIGTravlAlerts requesting some one call my wife Gail. Gail finally spoke to someone in Customer service who said although we check on the status of our claim the web page to check on the status has not been updated and shows closed. I insisted on speaking to a supervisor who was absolutely NO help. This is very frustrating and I am not the only one having issues with AIG. I have a friend who also is await a response from AIG since November 2022. They are quick to take our money but delays, delays, request for the same information...this is a very poor insurance company.

I had a medical emergency and had to fly back home immediately. Scott with AIG did an outstanding job handling my claims. They were handled easily with the utmost professionalism and prompt reimbursement. In addition to Scott doing a great job, he added a level of compassion which I really appreciated as I was just out of the hospital. Great job!! I will definitely use AIG for my travel insurance needs again.

AIG Travel Insurance it's the worst company ever! my sister cancel her wedding in the Dominican Republican because of all the deaths that was going on out there. They don't want to pay me my money back for my airline ticket. They are the worst. Instead of them wanted to refund us our money back, they'd rather for us to die and then file a claim.

Thank you for your review. We're sorry to hear about your negative experience. Both AIG and InsureMyTrip want our customers to choose the correct policy to fit their needs and stress the importance of reviewing your coverage details via the sample Description of Coverage/ Insurance Policy that’s provided at the time of purchase.
Nevertheless, in order to receive reimbursement under the Trip Cancellation benefit, your cancellation must be due to a covered reason listed in the policy, which unfortunately does not include your sister canceling her destination wedding due to the recent deaths in the Dominican Republic. Since state department travel warnings are not covered reasons under any plan, you would have needed to purchase a policy offering the optional Cancel for Any Reason which would have been available to you with the AIG Travel Guard Gold plan.
In the future, if you are looking for guidance in selecting a travel insurance plan, please consider contacting our office at 800-487-4722 where a licensed representative would be happy to assist you.
my granddaughter got food poisoning at an all inclusive. i was reimbursed for medical expenses, but our trip was interrupted for 3 days while we had to stay in our room due to her illness. She was unable to eat. This policy would not consider this a trip interruption because we left on the day we were scheduled to. But we lost 3 days of an all inclusive vacation.

Thank you for advising us on the status of your claim.
Although we are pleased you received reimbursement of your medical expense, we can certainly understand your frustration to hear that your Trip Interruption claim was denied. However, your Trip interruption claim was fairly denied because it did not meet the terms of your Travel Guard Gold plan which on page 7 of your certificate states:
Trip Interruption Benefits: The Company will reimburse the
Insured up to the Maximum Limit shown in the Schedule or
Declarations Page for Trips that are interrupted due to the Unforeseen events shown above for:
(a) Unused portion of nonrefundable, prepaid insured Trip Cost, and
(b) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured, either
(1) to the Return Destination; or
(2) from the place that the Insured left the Trip to the place that the Insured may rejoin the Trip; or
(c) additional transportation expenses incurred by the Insured to reach the original Trip Destination if the Insured is delayed and leaves after the Departure Date..."
InsureMyTrip is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and our customer care representatives are licensed insurance agents should you have any other questions. Please call us at 800-487-4722 as we would be happy to assist you.
AIG was excellent. We purchased this policy for a cruise, mainly to insure against the astronomical cost of a possible helicopter evacuation at sea. My wife had a medical emergency off the Mexican coast and we had to disembark in port for surgery. We are on Medicare, which covers nothing outside the U.S. Our Mutual of Omaha supplemental policy paid for 80 percent of the medical. The AIG policy covered all the rest. Both claims were handled very quickly. This was medical insurance only. The AIG policy did not cover any cost of returning to the U.S. or the cruise. However, this was a very affordable plan and satisfied our needs.

I ended up getting norovirus on our cruise, and the insurance covered charges from the cruise ship medical center. It took some time to process the claim, but they covered everything.

Website instructions and ancillary telephone support were available when, for the first time, I needed to file a claim. The best news: AIG Travel Guard will chase any other coverage I might have and receive whatever compensation is available. I received full payment for all that I had requested! Travel Guard took responsibility for translating my documents. The whole process of making a claim turned out to be much simpler than I had feared. I bought the coverage I thought would be most important for me and the contract was honored when I needed it! Thank you.

It's a very comprehensive plan at a great value. We had to have an entire trip refunded, and there were no problems with the process. Unfortunately, my agent was audited, and the process took longer than I would've liked to receive my refund check. Perhaps some communication during the time that he was audited would have been helpful. All in all, the check was received within a month of filing the claim.
