Very pleased with this plan - my son fell ill the day before we were supposed to leave and we had to cancel everything - the plan reimbursed our airline ticket penalties and non-refundable hotel promptly and completely.

I had a hotel that I booked in Cancun 3 months prior, cancel 7 days before my trip. No explanation, just an email saying room canceled by booking agent. I had to scramble to find a more expensive hotel. I wish these types of cancellations were covered by my trip insurance. IMT Agent said the only way to get paid was if the hotel was inhabitable.

According to your policy, "Trip Cancellation Benefits will be paid, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount shown in the Confirmation of Benefits to reimburse You for the amount of the Published Penalties and unused non-refundable Prepaid Payments You paid for Travel Arrangements when You are prevented from taking Your Trip due to..." covered reasons as stated in the policy. Although the number one covered reason for Trip Cancellation is the unforeseen illness or injury of you, a traveling companion or the unforeseen hospitalization or death of a family member, there are other covered reasons to cancel or interrupt your trip. As our customer care representative indicated, Trip Cancellation coverage in your policy was limited to:
"b. Your or Your Traveling Companion’s primary place of residence or destination being rendered uninhabitable and remaining uninhabitable during Your scheduled Trip by fire, flood, burglary or other Natural Disaster. Your destination is uninhabitable if: (i) the building structure itself is unstable and there is a risk of collapse in whole or in part; (ii) there is exterior or structural damage allowing elemental intrusion, such as rain, wind, hail, or flood; (iii) immediate safety hazards have yet to be cleared such as debris on roofs or downed electrical lines; or (iv) the rental property is without electricity or water. Benefits are not payable if a storm, snow storm, blizzard or hurricane is named on or before the Effective Date of Your Trip Cancellation coverage..."

My travel dates were Dec 1 leave RDU, Dec 8 return to RDU from Cun, I purchased insurance for my round trip travel dates. I was bitten by an insect early in my vacation that changed from itchy, and nothing to worry about, to on the last day, a very painful red swollen calf that now made it difficult to walk .On the last day, while I was about to leave Mexico to go home, I brought up the app on my phone to see what my insurance could do for me. The app said my insurance is no longer in effect. These are not my opinions or my feelings, I am just giving you feedback.

Apparently you did not actually file a claim with Crum and Forster Travel Insured. We did check our records and can confirm that your return date is shown as 12/08/2018. You may still be able to submit a claim if you visited a doctor for treatment during your trip. We suggest that you call the claims department at (800) 243-2440 for assistance in reporting your claim.
The process was easy. All
Plans are laid out for comparison. Appreciated the email prior to the trip
Providing all phone numbers and policy information we might need. No claims were filed.
