Nationwide Mutual Insurance
Essential
My husband and I have elderly parents who have medical issues, so when we travel, we always purchase insurance within 2 weeks of booking to cover their pre-existing conditions. The last 3 or 4 trips we purchased insurance through Nationwide, as their plan offered the best coverage for our needs.
In our approx. 10 years of purchasing such insurance, we used it for the first time this past September when we had to file a claim not for our parents medical problems, but for my younger sister. She was diagnosed with a life altering serious illness on the day before we were set to depart. Everyone in my family was an emotional mess, and I just couldn't leave at that point to go on a carefree tropical vacation.
I called Nationwide that day and explained the situation, and they emailed me all the forms I needed to complete the same day. It took me approximately 2 hours to complete the forms and gather all the necessary paperwork and receipts that I needed. I also had to get a signature from my sister's doctor, stating that she was ill and the code for the illness, which the office personnel was quick to provide.
All the paperwork was submitted to Nationwide on Sept. 28th, and I received my check today on Oct. 11th for the entire amount I lost. I cannot recommend this company more highly. This one claim probably more than covered all the insurance we paid for and never needed to use over the years.
Life happens, I never thought I would be canceling a vacation for my always healthy and strong sister, rather than our parents. You just never know.
Getting the claim settled with no hassel made a difficult time a little less stressful. I will always purchase trip insurance!
Carol H. would
recommend this plan to a friend or relative.
