I incurred expenses due to a lengthy flight delay that involved thunderstorms in NJ and then a flight control bottleneck. AIG denied my claim saying that air traffic control issues are an excluded cause. I don't doubt that but why? It feels like they deliberately planted odd loopholes to save themselves some $ and I'm feeling like "why do I even buy travel insurance?!"

"Thank you for providing this review and I’m sorry to hear that your travel plans were interrupted while away. The term ‘Air Traffic Control’ does not appear in the exclusions of our Essential plan. Our Essential plan does carry Trip Delay benefits for situations where Inclement Weather causing a delay of 12 or more consecutive hours. Documentation must be provided to support the claim.
