We had never purchased Travel Insurance before, but the necessity of paying early for discounts with questionable refund policies frightened us. Purchasing Travel Insurance relieved us of all that fear and as it turned out, medical challenges prevented us from making the trip. We are so happy and relieved that Travel Insured International sent us a check for $1,299 that covered all of the nonrefundable portion of the trip..

I have been purchasing travel insurance for over 20 years and finally had to use it for a very small claim (missed one hotel night because of a one day flight delay for a three week trip). It was very difficult to get answers over the phone. As expected, lots of paperwork and bureaucracy. Eventually, the full amount was paid.

Filed a claim a month ago, one request for more information, sent that, still no response. Called 10 days after submitting second round of information, representative told me they had not looked at it yet. She would let the person reviewing my case know it was in her inbox. Not very efficient. After filing this review got a call the next day and claim was approved. Should not have been but all is well now.

I have been purchasing travel insurance for all of my vacations on a regular basis and was interested to see what would happen when our return flight was cancelled by the airline due to weather, presenting the opportunity to file a claim. In a short conversation with a Travel Insured representative, I was curtly informed that a "Missed Connection," was not what I assumed it to be, and my claim was not covered by the policy.

According to my travel insurance summary, benefits would be payable for a "Missed Connection" due to a delay of three hours or more. We were able to get on another flight but due to the flight cancellation we were delayed at the airport for four hours; we didn't arrive at our home airport until after midnight and incurred extra expenses for our transportation back home from the airport (a relative was going to drive us home but couldn't do it at that hour). I was hoping to file a claim for the unexpected transportation expenses to get home from the airport.

However, when I called Travel Insured I was told to read page 14 of my travel insurance policy document, where it states that a "Missed Connection," is only applicable at the beginning of a trip, and only if you miss your cruise or tour. So missing our ride home from the airport was not covered. I had actually tried to call Travel Insured when our flight was cancelled to get clarification of how the policy applied to our situation, but the office was closed. I then called the 24 hour travel assistance line that is offered in conjunction with this policy; the representative I spoke with cautioned that she did not work for Travel Insured and could not interpret the policy, but she also assumed that the "Missed Connection" could apply to my situation. She also tried to reach someone at Travel Insured, but was not successful.

The claim I had wanted to file for transportation was minimal, and I'm not very happy with the results of this "test run." I think next time I would spend more with another company that provides better coverage and clearer and more straightforward terms and conditions, and also one that has representatives who can be reached when needed. I would say this insurance can work for you if you are willing to thoroughly read and memorize the 56 page policy document and are satisfied with the loopholes.

    "We apologize if you have experienced any frustration or inconveniences. After speaking with the Customer Care Department, it was indicated that you were delayed for 4 hours on your return flight and were looking to file a claim. The rep advised that the Missed Connection is if you miss a cruise or trip departure due to a delay; therefore, this situation wouldn’t qualify for benefits. The rep also explained that in order for Travel Delay benefits to be payable, you would have to be delayed for 6 or more hours. Unfortunately, since it was a delay of only 4 hours, the use of the benefit was not qualified. We urge you to contact us any time at 1-800-243-3174 with questions or concerns before, during, or after your trip to ensure you are receiving the best coverage and service possible. Thank you."

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
Our direct flight from Charlotte, NC to St John USVI in July was delayed almost 24 hours due to a mechanical issue. American Airlines provided us meal vouchers and a hotel room.

Our claim to Travel Insured covered one day of our Jeep rental, one missed night in our villa on St John, and made up the difference in our meal cost. Was easy to file the claim and quick processing. Glad we had the trip protection! Made missing one night of an expensive vacation a little easier.

Three weeks before our planned cruise, I took a dive playing basketball and was diagnosed with a broken hip. The trip was over before it started. I submitted the claim paperwork, and before the boat left the dock, I received the check for the refund.

Our son broke his leg 18 days before our cruise. Absolutely no hassles or problems with claim and receiving reimbursement. HIGHLY recommend InsureMyTrip for insurance coverage! We re-booked for February vacation and just returned. We used InsureMyTrip insurance again for that trip!
