We had to cancel our long-anticipated trip due my wife's poor health, so we filed a claim. Review of the claim took two full months, during which I received multiple requests for the same documents I had already sent, because the people processing these don't bother reading them carefully. Despite a clear record of when and why my wife received care for her condition, our medical claim was rejected. Fortunately we'd paid extra for "cancel for any reason" coverage, and that was applied, otherwise we would have lost everything. So the ONLY aspect of this insurance that's worth a penny is CFAR; the rest is a waste of money (and time).

We had to cancel our trip last minute due to early birth of grandson. This company was easy and appropriate to work with. Customer service communication and representatives were very clear and reachable. We received reimbursement in a timely manner for costs incurred. I cannot rate them highly enough and would definitely use their coverage again for any future travel plans.

Claim process is too archaic and burdensome. Electronic claim forms don't work. Travel delay coverage is wholly inadequate. Claims personnel are not completely familiar with their process and indifferent re processing claims.

When we were stuck in JFK airport I tried calling the insured. I ended up being transferred 3 times and then one time they said, we will call back. NO CALL BACK. So we ended up staying at a more expensive hotel within walking distance in lieu of staying at a cheaper hotel and then cab rides back and forth back to the airport the next morning. No difference in repayment for claim. We were exhausted from our international flight arrival and our connecting flight home was cancelled. When we finally found food, we forgot to get a receipt. They would not cover this claim because it was on our credit card statement BUT NOT a receipt that they required. I am very unhappy with C&F Travel Insurance. I will NOT EVER RECOMMEND OR USE THEM based on this poor customer service.

I was very impressed by Travel Insured International, I travel a lot internationally and unexpected things happen all the time! So I always have travel insurance coverage, but for the first time I purchased Travel Insured International. The coverage for my trip was great and at a low cost. When unexpected happened I opened a claim with Travel Insured International and within 3 days I got approved and in 4 days I had reimbursement payment in my bank account! I am very impressed!

I had a claim for hotel and meals, due to my flight being cancelled and re-scheduled for the following day. The claim submission process was quick and easy. And it was paid out within about 48 hours.

A CLAIM WAS MADE FOR MEDICAL AND TRIP INTERRUPTION COVERAGE.
The claim was paid within 3 months so that was acceptable for a larger claim.
Sadly, the cost of my husband's modest hotel stay WAS NOT covered and excluded for reimbursement. This was a $1500 + loss for us sadly, even tho we had all paid invoices and back up information.
Interestingly, the INSURANCE CO mandated that I remain in Italy for an additional 5 days after discharged from a hospital stay- due to their requirement of medical clearance to fly home. So even tho they DEMANDED we remain in Italy in a hotel - THE hotel charges were NOT REIMBURSED.
This seems "out of sorts" as a family member requires lodging during a travel partner's illness. There lies the reason of my "3" rating, as a whole. It is unfortunate that we pay a significant premium for a travel policy - yet they fail to provide coverage for a "required" charge.

Due to a cancellation of our transatlantic flight caused by a mechanical issue, we were delayed by 25 hours in getting to our destination, which caused us to miss the sailing of an expedition cruise by just 1 hour. Despite having trip interruption insurance and additional coverage for interruption for ANY reason, we found out the hard way that “any reason” doesn’t truly mean any reason.

Their interruption insurance doesn’t start until 72 hours after the initial travel date and doesn’t cover mechanical delays unless they exceed 48 hours. This makes the insurance pretty much useless when you’re trying to catch a cruise. How many cruises does someone catch where the ship leaves after 72 hours of starting travel? Of course, the insurance company is well aware of this and results in fewer claims being paid.

Had these limitations been prominently displayed, I would never have purchased this policy. Instead, they were buried in 1365 words of fine print, which required a thorough search to uncover.

As a result, the policy only paid $1,000 of my $19,000 claim. I’ve been using InsureMyTrip.com for decades without ever needing to make a claim due to a cancellation, but this experience has shown me that when you actually need the insurance, it may not be there for you.

This situation is a prime example of not being forthcoming with critical coverage details. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines, advertisements must be truthful and not misleading, including the fine print, which should not contradict the main message. The FTC’s Deception Policy Statement specifies that an ad is deceptive if it contains a statement—or omits information—that is likely to mislead consumers acting reasonably under the circumstances and that this information is material to their decision-making process. The lack of clear and conspicuous disclosures in the policy details is a violation of these guidelines, which require that important details not be hidden in fine print or made difficult to understand. Companies must back up their product claims with reliable evidence, and failing to do so can result in significant penalties. Our experience exemplifies the consequences of not being forthcoming with critical coverage details.

I hope this review helps others make more informed decisions and highlights the need for transparency in travel insurance policies.

My claim for expenses resulting from a weather delay was processed and paid promptly, but I believe that a huge contributor to that result was my compulsive retention of every conceivable document and communication related to the trip and the delay. The document requests from Travel Insured were voluminous and some were nit-picky, and included producing copies of boilerplate terms and conditions from common carriers, emails, text messages, invoices, receipts, credit card statements to back up the receipts, screen shots of certain information, and even proof that there had actually been a “documented weather event” (the weather delay was caused by a catastrophic rain storm that had made national news, and resulted in a declaration of emergency by the Governor of Florida). My advice — keep copies of literally every communication and document, and screen shots of anything and everything you can’t print out or save as a PDF.
