Claim was mailed to Trip Mate on 10/03/17. Case was closed by Trip Mate 11/27/17 and claim was approved. Refund check was dated 11/27/17. Envelope was post marked 12/01/17. Received on 12/07/17. Why does it take 2 months to get this done?! The premium is required to be paid within 14 days of the initial deposit, in order for the pre existing conditions to be waived. All documentation to proof the claim was provided. In the age of electronics why is this so cumber some?! Looks like what's good for goose is Not good for the gander?!

Thank you for submitting your 5 star review and your comments regarding the claims process. TravelSafe has asked us to thank their customers and express their appreciation for their patience in this lengthy process.
Trip Mate, who handled your claim on behalf of TravelSafe, generally expected to finalize your claim and provide payment within 30 days or less of receiving your claim. Unfortunately an intense hurricane season increased the number of claims and delayed that turnaround time period from 60 to 90 days. As you know, Hurricane Irma struck from August 30th to September 12th; Hurricane Jose ranged from September 5th to September 21st; and Hurricane Maria from September 16th to September 30th.
Once again, we thank you for your patience. Please feel free to call InsureMyTrip at (800) 487-4722 if you have additional questions.
The airline cancelled my return flight to Miami when the airport closed due to Hurricane Irma. Got stuck in Prague for 4 days until I could get another flight. Filed a claim with all my receipts, flight cancel notice, etc. Took about 2 months, but they reimbursed me for everything--hotel, meals, transportation to the airport. No hassle at all. Will use them again, and would recommend them to my family.

I have purchased travel insurance in the past but never filed a claim. In 2017 me and my wife planned to take a Mediterranean cruise and I purchased insurance from TravelSafe. Shortly after we put down our deposit and purchased plane tickets we found out my wife was pregnant. Since she would be in the third trimester at the time of the cruise, we decided to cancel our plans. I filed a claim with TripMate (they process the claims for TravelSafe) under the "cancel for any reason waiver" since pregnancy is not a covered medical condition.
Pros: As specified in the insurance contract, they did reimburse us for 75% of the cost of our plane tickets and trip deposit. Also, their price was reasonable relative to the other plans I looked at when I was shopping for trip insurance.
Cons: It did take them about three months to process the claim and for me and my wife to receive a check, even though it was a relatively simple claim. I don't know if that's standard for the industry. I didn't think the amount of paperwork was unreasonable, but I found it odd that they made me submit a bunch of tour information and then asked our travel agent for the exact same material. Luckily, our travel agent was willing to answer their questions and provide the information, even though we did not purchase the policy through her. If our travel agent decided not to answer their questions would we still have had our claim approved?

Special thanks to your travel agent who assisted you in gathering the necessary documents. Although we cannot predetermine a claim, you could also have requested assistance from a claim advocate at InsureMyTrip who would have acted as your intermediary during the claim process.
We canceled this trip. The policy was a "cancel for any reason" policy. I filed the requested paperwork immediately, and both the claim and documentation were straightforward and uncomplicated, consisting of only 2 receipts. TravelSafe stalled and delayed repeatedly; my claim was not even evaluated, much less paid, until after an InsureMyTrip rep intervened. InsureMy Trip was great; TravelSafe was not.

Once my completed documentation had been submitted, it took more than EIGHT WEEKS to process my claim (all that time without me being asked to submit any additional documentation). I tried to call the company about the delay, but got put on hold for a long time and finally gave up. I will say that they finally reimbursed me for the amount of my request and didn't deny any of my claim. Because of the nature of my injury, I also had a claim for a later trip with different insurer - it took that company THREE DAYS from the time of my electronic submission to notification of approval of the claim and then another four days to receive the refund, for a total of one week.

You should all know the story by now -- I had to cancel for work reasons and you would not cover my airfare costs. You denied my claim and denied my request for partial reimbursement. I would never use you again.

The TravelSafe Classic policy automatically includes the Cancel For Work Reasons rider which provides Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage in the event your approved time off is revoked from your employer.
"You, Your Traveling Companion or a Family Member traveling with You is required to work during Your Trip. A written statement by an unrelated company official and/or the human resources department demonstrating revocation of previously approved time off will be required. We have used 'InsureMyTrip' for many years for our cruise travel insurance company and have been pleased. This year we had to cancel a cruise and filing a claim, "Trip Cancellation Claim ID 6336742", was a horrible experence! I only asked for a mere $596 refund! Trip Mate was handling the claim here in Kansas City, MO and I sent the necessary paperwork at the end of May. Time dragged on and on, and finally they indicated they transferred my claim to another 'agency' and lost all my documentation. I had to re-send paperwork two more times, talk to a respresentative several times, and it took until August to actually receive the insurance claim money! This whole insurance processing department appeared inexperienced and and inadpt at processing a claim. It is doubtful we will use your insurance company again!

I purchased the Cancel For Any Reason plan. I did have to cancel and promptly filed the claim. I spent many hours providing every single detail and produced a summary document that covered everything. After over 2.5 months of waiting, Trip Mate finally completed the review and have informed me that I will get nothing.... They had managed to find some fine-print in their contract. Nothing at all??? Last time that I use them.

It took 2 months to get a check from "Travelsafe", even with a simple and very well documented medical issue on the ship. Initial claim reporting was very awkward, they wanted heavy documentation and lots of forms, and there were no verbal follow ups on the delay. When I initiated calls, the reps were extremely aloof, and had no urgency or concern. This company fooled me once, but I will feel "Safer" NEVER using these bozos again.
Word of advice, spend time looking at reviews where claims were made. That tells you the value of what you are really buying.
Insuremytrip really helped me out. They get a five star rating!
