GoReady Insurance Choice
We filed a claim back in September due to the hurricane. We purchased 'cancel for any reason', we are still waiting for our money. A insure my claim advocate recently became involved which seems to started the process 'again'. I don't understand why we have to always provide documentation for a cancel for any reason purchased policy.

4 1/2 months later we FINALLY received our deposit back. We will NEVER EVER go with April Travel Protection.
We are extremely disappointed with their service.

GoReady Insurance Choice Family Plan
Our trip to the Bahamas was impacted by the Delta fiasco in April 2017 and our trip was delayed by 3 days -- not an easy thing with two young kids. We filed a trip delay claim and it was paid promptly, actually must faster than I expected. First time I ever bought trip insurance and will do it every trip now.

I paid almost half as much for the insurance as I collected back. That's not a very good ROI. The handler at April was very nice, but it took far too long to get my check. they make money on keeping other people's money

    Since the Comprehensive Plan premiums are based on age of traveler, trip cost and length of trip, plans do get more expensive as you get older. However, you were fortunate that your total claim was less than 1000 USD. It would not be unusual for medical expenses to far exceed your policy premium.

We had a horrible experience with April Travel Insurance. 62 DAYS TO PROCESS OUR CLAIM AND 40 DAYS TO RECEIVE A CHECK AFTER THAT! THEY DO NOT RESPOND TO YOUR EMAILS! A missed connection resulted in us having to decide to book last minute flights to meet our ship or cancel the entire trip. We contacted April insurance immediately upon landing to ask for help, and got a voicemail asking us to leave our number and someone would call us right back. No one called us back. After rebooking flights at a huge expense, I called April and they just said to keep all our receipts. I submitted the claim right after we returned, and did not hear from them for 36 days. They contacted us twice over the next month asking for more information (none of which was requested with the initial claim) Each time a requested a status update, I received no response. Finally the emailed us that a check was being issued (which covered less than half the expenses we incurred). After not receiving the checks for 3 weeks, I contacted them to tell them they hadn't arrived. No response. I contacted them 5 times over the next 3 weeks, I got no responses to email, and when I called, kept being told they someone would take care of it, and never received a follow up call. The customer service is horrible. I wasn't questioning the claim, just asking them to reissue a check, and that took another 3 weeks! DO NOT USE THIS INSURANCE COMPANY. By the way, I still don't actually have my checks, they assure me that are re-issued and "in the mail"

Of course, one purchases travel insurance and hopes never to have to use it. This year, we had to cancel our trip due to a medical issue. We were so upset to have to cancel, but were glad that April Travel came through for us! The claim was processed within the time frame indicated and the staff we interacted with by phone and email were kind and professional. We would wholeheartedly recommend April Travel!

I understand that the insurance company is based out of Miami and there were two hurricanes back to back. However, I had to send my claim in twice because they said they didn't get the first one. I just forwarded the original email to show it was previously sent. The countdown was started on their end based on the second email. This started their timer a week later than originally submitted. They then arbitrarily changed their deadline from 30 business days to 45 business days. I didn't receive an email about this. A blast email could have been sent to everyone who had filed a claim. While they paid my claim for what I expected, I felt that communication from the insurer was very poor. This is a major negative in my opinion.

We had a trip planned and my mother-in-law became sick with a terminal illness so we can to cancel. April paid the full claim though it took a while due to the hurricanes that had taken place around that same time period. We were satisfied with the service.

I filed a claim on July 25, 2017 and this morning, October 9, 2017 I finally received a determination on my claim, whereby April denied fully one-half of my submitted claim. It took this company 54 business days to review and ultimately reject one-half of the claim (they originally said it would be processed within 30 days of my claim submission). I started inquiring weeks ago regarding the delay but never received satisfactory responses. One specific expense I submitted I believe was clearly covered under the terms of the policy and plan to appeal it, and if an unsatisfactory resolution is received I will escalate to my state insurance commission. Another part of the claim, which were expenses incurred for having frequent miles reinstated, apparently was not allowable under the terms of the policy since I cancelled for any reason, whereby there is a loophole that allows them to deny payment on those expenses. Check the policies of the different companies if cancel for any reason is important to you - I am finding out now that many insurers do pay on FF reinstatement fee claims, as should be standard, since those are hard costs the traveler has to pay to make themselves whole. I honestly would have been better off paying for my airline tickets rather than using miles, as hopefully April might have paid on that...instead they gladly denied my FF mileage reinstatement claim. I would never do business with this company again and I would encourage you not do business with them either if you want a fair and timely claims process to happen should the need arise to make a claim. Very dissatisfied with every aspect of my dealings with this company. Unfortunately you get what you pay for, so bad on me but shame on them.

I filed a claim on 27 July 2017 but did not receive payment until 2 October 2017. This long of a wait is absolutely ridiculous. And no hurricanes had hit as of 27 July, so that is no excuse.
