The claim was for Trip cancellation due to illness.
The good part is that they spotted an inconsistency in the Doctor's Report and, instead of just denying the claim, they sent a clarification email with a form for the doctor to fill out. Once this form was returned to them, they paid promptly and fairly. So they actually care about their customers.
The bad part is that it took them 10 weeks just to look at the claim after I filed it. And most of that was before the Pandemic.
So expect to be treated fairly, but don't expect fast service.

We filed a claim after our infant daughter became ill on the eve of travel and we had to cancel the trip. AIG covered our claim, which was for non refundable lodging and the airline cancellation fee. Overall I was satisfied with the experience. My only complaints were that it took 2.5 months for the claim to be processed- I’m guessing part of this delay was due to the COVID pandemic, though. The other issue was that I did not receive any communication about the claim until I received a check in the mail. I did periodically check their website, but it would have been nice to get an email once the claim was approved. Overall, though, it was a fine experience and I would use it again.

We are sorry you had to cancel your trip, and we hope your daughter is doing better! Thank you for sharing your overall positive claim experience. However, I’m sorry to hear you were not entirely satisfied with the communication leading up to your paid claim. COVID-19 has resulted in historically high claim volume, but we continue to strive for exemplary service. We appreciate your feedback so we can do better! We hope you will be able to schedule another trip soon. Take care and stay safe.
Although payment was eventually made under the plan, it was very difficult to get information on the status of the claim. This, of course, could be because of the Coronavirus situation, but attempts to call by phone were of no avail. I was on hold for over an hour snd had to finally give up. Emails were also not answered. It was only after I contacted InsureMyTrip and told them of my problem that I received payment.

My husband needed a medical evacuation. Due to the lack of urgency on the part of international representatives, he was not evacuated in time and died. The biggest problem was with each contact, a completely different representative handled the situation. No dedicated person until he was hopeless.

Trip insurance has too many loopholes! I needed help in a flight rebooking. No help from your company. I have bought your product many times, not anymore.

I am quired about the possibility of some thing being covered by the plan. I waited 75 minutes on hold the first day before I gave up and finally got to speak to a human after more than 100 minutes the next day. You should be ashamed with yourself to provide such a piss poor level of customer service

I've bought travel insurance for years "just in case." Well, this time we needed it. My husband broke one ankle and sprained the other while we were traveling in Cambodia. He ended up visiting two hospitals in Cambodia, and spending several nights as an inpatient at the wonderful Royal Phnom Penh Hospital. The hospital contacted AIG and helped us fill out forms and told us to keep copies of itemized receipts. (We paid out of pocket and were reimbursed.) My husband needed a nurse to fly with him back to the USA from Cambodia and the insurance handled all of that, rebooking flights so my husband and the nurse flew business class so my husband's legs could remain elevated during the flight. I can't imagine having to navigate all this on my own. Filing our claim and uploading documents was easy, as was checking on their status. We were reimbursed for all expenses, thanks to keeping all of our receipts. We are definitely getting AIG travel insurance our next trip, though I'm hoping we don't actually need to use it again!

We experienced a travel delay of a week while in the UK and a new itinerary that involved a new plane flight. Our car rental for that week was not covered, but meals and lodging and new flight and missed nonrefundable lodging were covered. It took several months to resolve the claim and then paid promptly.
