Our trip to southeast Asia was planned to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Just weeks before we were scheduled to depart, my wife developed a bacterial infection in her left knee which required surgery. We have purchased travel insurance for years, primarily because my mother is 92 years old. We never thought we would have to cancel a trip because something happened to us. We filed our claim with all the required documentation, and in less than three weeks the claim was paid. We are now looking forward to rebooking the same trip next year. If anyone is skeptical about the need for travel insurance, our experience should erase any doubt. We invested hundreds for protection and saved ourselves tens of thousands of dollars.

I had to file a claim with AIG. Even though I disagree with their final decision, I do and will respect their rules and guidelines. Another plus is AIG actually calls and explain the final decision. I was expecting a paper letter a few months later and close my case. It was nice talking to a friendly person. Again, as much as I disagree with their decision with my claim, I'm buying another AIG Travel Guard plan for the next trip. Great customer service.
