We used this policy to reimburse us for my husband's visit to the cruise ship's doctor. While we were still on the ship, I used the email address specifically provided to us by April Travel Protection to communicate with them while at sea. Basically I just wanted to find out what we needed to provide in order to file a claim so that I made sure we got all of the documents before leaving the ship. However, I received no response back from April, so I needed to call them from the ship. When I spoke to a rep I told her I had emailed the address provided and got no response back, she kept repeating that they respond to emails within a certain time (it was way past the time frame she said). Not a great start in terms of customer service.
However, she did email me a claim form with instructions and when we got back home I followed the claim instructions carefully and had no problems getting reimbursed for the full amount of the ship's medical center charges. (Although on their summary of benefits that came along with the check they got the patient name wrong and listed me as the patient instead of my husband -- it didn't affect the payment but I noticed they got that wrong.)
So, I would probably use April again as they processed the claim quickly and completely and had good coverage, but I do wish they were better about responding to their email and paying attention to who the patient was.
