Finally, the review you've been waiting for! Someone who actually filed a claim. My luggage was lost en route to Casablanca. It was missing for 36 hours, but during that time I was told by my tour leader to prepare for it to be missing for a much longer period. That meant shopping for cold weather / rain gear, slacks, shirts, sweaters, pjs, underwear, sundries. Fortunately, I had purchased a plan that included delayed luggage up to $600. Alas, my expenses were indeed covered -- with the exception of the taxi rides to and from the shopping center (to shop) and airport (to collect my suitcase when it finally arrived -- unlike the US, they do not deliver delayed luggage), which totaled $100.

I filed a claim upon return and it was quickly settled, within weeks. I was very pleased and would not hesitate to purchase this product again.

Claims submission is not intuitive or well explained on the site. I also received no confirmation email of submission, and had no idea if it went through correctly or not. There needs to be a clearer explanation of the process and precisely what documentation is needed, and what to expect next. I felt like I was winging it.

    Thank you very much for your accurate comments on filing a claim. The process is not intuitive. Although we include a section on our website for "Travel Insurance Policy & Claims Information", InsureMyTrip presents generalized and not company specific information.

    Travelers should always refer to their Certificate of Insurance for specific details on filing a claim. Your Tokio Marine HCC claim information started on page 5 of your Certificate of Insurance where they provided you with the steps in the process along with a list of required documents.

    Unfortunately most claims departments do not provide you with a confirmation of receipt. Instead the providers refer claimants to their website where you can freely access necessary forms and your claim status. However, you will be pleased to hear that providers are listening to their policyholders' concerns as guidance to improving the claims process. Providers recognize that the process needs improvement and take your suggestions seriously.

    In addition, please always remember InsureMyTrip's promise of "Unparalleled Customer Service":

Had to visit an emergency room overseas with Dengue fever, and paid a ton out of pocket. Scanned and sent in all the hospital paperwork, and Tokio Marine HCC covered it all with no back and forth! This insurance was one of the best purchases I've ever made! I'm getting travel insurance everytime I go abroad from now on.

I have always bought your insurance in the last ten years and fortunately we never had to use until this trip. In July we had a little trouble and when we went to the clinic they tried to file a claim directly to you and they didn't manage to get any feedback so we paid by credit card. Once back in italy we received an email from you saying that this clinic had open a claim to you. We don't expect you to pay then since we already paid . however I wonder if this insurance is a valid choice for next trip since we buy the insurance to cover us if needed but this experience is not indicating this.

Was a nightmare working with your company. Filing a claim was a horrible process, will be telling people not to go with your company in the future.

    We were advised that you did contact the claims department on January 20th, 2018 to find out the extent of coverage under this policy after your friend became ill. Unfortunately, you purchased a single trip medical plan with no coverage under Trip Interruption for your prepaid nonrefundable travel expenses even if you decided to return home early. In addition, the medical condition that you noted as being the reason for a claim is a standard exclusion in all travel insurance plans. Although we certainly understand your disappointment, Tokio Marine can only reimburse you within the terms and limitations of your policy.

    Perhaps you will decide to purchase another plan for your next trip. We encourage you to call us for assistance and a detailed explanation of coverage prior to purchasing a plan.

I bought this plan, but received my insurance document in a corrupted PDF file. Contacted both Insuremytrip and Tokio Marine HCC and they asked me to log in the website to access the documents. But guess what?! It does not work either. And I´ve written to them and they do not even care to put some effort to send me a new file for the documents.. Imagine if it was an emergency?! And with no documents I'll be lacking of proper documentation to get in the EU. Will I have to buy another insure from a different agent and company?! I'm trying to figure it out..

I was able to speak with customer service to get support completing the application. My expenses were fully covered and I received payment in a responsible amount of time. I have already booked travel insurance for my next trip with you!

DON'T BUY THEIR POLICY!! This is the worst experience we've ever had filing claim. They never reply. You called them, they will have you to call back in 7 to 10 days, again and again.... They successfully wore us out, eventually. We gave up.

    Upon receiving your comments, we did assign an "Anytime Advocate" who was able to assist you with the claim. Unfortunately, the 244 USD medical bill was under the 250 USD deductible, so you did not receive any reimbursement.

    As you indicated, "I understand we won't get any money back. Only wish they can handle it better. It's the worse experience we've ever had with any insurance company."

    Once again, we apologize. In the future, you may wish to call us for assistance in quoting and selecting a policy. InsureMyTrip is available weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
