John Hancock may be an adequate travel insurer but its claims administrator, Sedgwick, caused me never to purchase any type of John Hancock insurance coverage. Nineteen days before scheduled departure for a France guided tour, I had been hospitalized the second time in as many weeks for bronchitis. The second time was also for sinusitis and the new strain of Covid. CT/MRI scans of the sinuses also revealed that I had incurred a minor stroke. Because of the recurring respiratory infections and need for a cardiology referral, the hospital physician signed a statement medically advising to cancel the upcoming trip scheduled for August 20--September 6. Sedgwick rejected the letter for lack of "required documentation" but would not specify what was required. Four times submitting documentation that did not satisfy Sedgwick, I learned it only wanted physician to specify the dates I could not travel. When bronchitis returned for the third time, I showed the physician Sedgwick's email. He retroactively specified the dates I was restricted from travel. I do no recommend John Hancock insurance because of its claims adjuster, Sedgwick. Lesson learned: always confirm if the insurance company also administers claims. Third-party claims adjusters may be paid a bonus for the amount of claims denied. Caveat emptor!

John Hancock Insurance provided excellent and complete coverage for our claim. My wife was diagnosed with cancer and we had to cancel our trip and we were refunded fully for all committed expenses.

I purchased this policy for international travel. I purchased a piece of personal property for almost $200 in London, which was stolen a few days later on pubic transportation. I emailed the claims company promptly but did not submit a claim until I returned. When I returned to the US about 6 weeks later, I submitted a claim with proof of purchase and proof of travel where it was stolen, and the full amount was paid to me with absolutely no hassle. Excellent service.

We had a bucket list trip planned to Paris and I became ill and could not travel. I was heart broken. Insuremytrip.com, Seven Corners, and John Hancock were easy to work with, everyone was kind, and responded quickly. I contacted them, they emailed me a very easy to fill out form, had my physician fill out the appropriate areas, sent it back and they had my check in the mail to reimburse me for my prepaid trip expenses within 10 days. I will always use this site and the John Hancock gold plan for all my large travel trips. They were wonderful and easy to work with!! It was worth every penny!! Hopefully, I will go again, buy the policy, not have to use it and actually make it to Paris. I will not go on any big trip now without them!

UPDATE TO BELOW COMPLAINT: SEVEN CORNERS corrected the error, a senior account manager called me a couple times apologizing and promising to have everything corrected, my full claim was paid, he had my check sent by Fed Ex overnight since I was leaving the country in a couple days and followed up to make sure everything came out ok. The way they corrected their error was excellent, so I've changed my one-star review to a five-star review. I believe doing the right thing quickly and with an apology when an error is shown deserves credit. I would now insure through John Hancock and Seven Corners again.
ORIGINAL COMPLAINT: I DID file a claim as a result of a nationwide labor strike in France that interrupted travel twice (a covered risk) throughout the country for a very important business trip. I filed my claim for a few hundred dollars with Seven Corners Claims, as required by John Hancock Ins., promptly and with complete documentation (I've been through a French labor strike in 2010 so went through this process before). A couple weeks after the claim had been received, the web site showed it had still not been assigned to anyone. When I checked again 2 MONTHS after Seven Corners received it, the web site showed my claim was for $1 and was "closed." I called and spoke to a nice woman who acknowledged receipt of the documents and would expedite handling. A week later (now over 2 months), it is still not handled. The last time I insured through an Allianz policy and was reimbursed within a few weeks, they were ready for claims related to the French labor strikes. I travel a lot and always buy through insuremytrip, have had two prior claims with no problems getting reimbursed, but this is the first time dealing with John Hancock and Seven Corners. NEVER AGAIN! My claim is still pending, but I will fight for payment. I know insurance coverage requirements and this is covered under my policy. For anyone who does not know how to fight over insurance claims, be careful of Seven Corners and John Hancock! You might want to look elsewhere for travel insurance. They should fire whoever handled my claim that way.
