The only thing we wanted to claim was some personal items that we had to purchase to replace things that were delayed. Because we were unaware of the requirement to keep every scrap of paperwork, we were unable to complete the claim

It's been two weeks since I filed a claim and I have heard zero - nothing - from the company you chose to process claims (CBP Insure). I sent an e-mail and got a response that someone would contact me within 2 business days, still crickets (nothing). Claim/Policy Number: NWE23030222244K
Member Name: GEORGE OUIMET; Update: I heard back after nearly a month. CLAIM DENIED except a $100 a day maximum reimbursement. What a joke it didn't even cover the cost of the policy, so Nationwide made money and we have an out of pocket loss of more than $2000. READ THE FINE PRINT, the only things they cover for trip interruption are things that almost never happen. To no fault of ours one of our connecting flights was delayed more than 4 hours, which caused us to miss our flights home. No refund, no voucher to get a new flight, nothing. Stranded with no way to get home and this lousy Nationwide Policy DIDN'T COVER IT. Never again!

The trip included a
tour
Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
I unfortunately did have to cancel my trip due to a persistent leg tendon and nerve injury. It was an active hiking and bicycling trip, and I canceled my trip before the final payments were due for the organized tours. My doctor would not sign off on the form saying I was unfit to travel because of the limited wording of the question -- I clearly could get on an airplane, although I could not complete the trip I had planned. Initially Nationwide denied my claim, but I sent back an email again explaining that I did not want to cancel my trip but could not do the trip I had planned. (As required in making a claim, I had submitted itineraries for the guided portions of my trip). My doctor agreed that I could not complete the trip, as he indicated in a written statement, even though he would not check the box saying I was unfit to travel. Frankly, I did not expect my email to change anything; but, much to my surprise, I received an email response in less than a week saying that my claim had been sent to appeals and Nationwide would be sending me a check for my claim. It took some work getting to this result. It is small consolation, as my injury months later is just slowly getting better, but ultimately Nationwide made a fair decision. For that I give the company 5 stars.

My husband developed a severe back injury 1 month before our departure date, and as he was not able to travel, we had to cancel our cruise. I submitted the required paperwork and was compensated for all my lost revenue and non-refundable deposits. Was very happy with the plan and the way the company handled the claim. Customer reps were helpful.

I supplied all the documentation on 2/9/17. I got my checks on 4/13.

There were two problems. The reviewer would not accept a paid statement from the cruise line as proof of payment. The notification of this rejection was not communicated clearly resulting in delays.

Put another way, this the kind of BS we expect from insurance companies. Delaying payment to improve their cash flow. I made numerous phone calls and it still took over 2 months.

I'm sorry that I didn't respond earlier (found this in old email). I did experience the theft of my purse at the Nice Airport and Nationwide "had my back". While, of course, there were financial limitations which meant that my losses exceeded the reimbursement, I was pleased with how I was treated by phone and was surprised by the quick response to my claim. You are my "go to" now! Thanks so much for making an upsetting incident much less.

You never know how good insurance is until you have to use it. I suffered a knee injury before our trip to Paris and filed a claim with Nationwide to recover my wife's and my airfare. The claim was easy to file ( had to get my doctor to sign a piece of paper that I was unable to travel) and was done completely electronically by scanning the few pages of documents and sending them via email. I received the entire refund for our airfare in less than 4 weeks. It was easy and painless - I highly recommend trip insurance and Nationwide.

I bought insurance because my tour company required it. I chose this plan because I wanted a pre-existing condition coverage. I used it only to claim for late baggage. My claim was covered promptly.

Overall, I was very impressed and please with my experience with TruTravel. I would happily purchase travel insurance through them again in the future.

My family and I had our vacation delayed a full day, due to our transatlantic flight being cancelled. When we returned home, I submitted a claim for prepaid expenses lost (one day of our vacation rental and pre-purchased train tickets) and expenses incurred due to the delay (food costs and replacement train tickets). The cost of our hotel stay was covered by the airline. I had questions several times throughout the claims process, and every time I called TruTravel, the representative I spoke to was kind, helpful, and seemed genuinely interested in assisting me.

Part of our claim - the pre-purchased train tickets - was originally denied because the train company said the tickets could've been changed up until the day before we were to use them. However, because our flight was cancelled after midnight European time, we were not actually able to change them. I could not get proof of exactly what time the flight was cancelled from the airline, so I submitted a re-review to TruTravel explaining the situation (without any additional evidence). They agreed and reimbursed us for the tickets. I was very impressed that TruTravel could look beyond the hard evidence and understand on a logical level why the reasoning behind their initial denial was inaccurate.

My only issue with TruTravel is that I wish they would've communicated better about when they made their decision on the claim and what it was. I found out because I reached out to them - otherwise, I think I would've had to wait for the claim check in the mail. I did ask, in the re-review, that they contact me via e-mail with their decision, and that's exactly what they did, so I do appreciate them honoring that request.

While I always buy travel insurance, this was my first experience in filing a claim. The policy was selected based upon a lesser policy price for good coverage due to cancellation, interruption or delay. My claim was for delay - our flight was cancelled and rebooked for the next day. Although we were provided overnight accommodations, out-of-pocket expenses were incurred for meals and internet (not free at hotel). I learned after the fact that internet was not covered. The claim process was very easy - completion of a form and submission of receipts & copies of boarding passes via email. No questions were asked (I had good documentation). I received a check for meal reimbursement 4 weeks from date of claim.
