Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
After experiencing significant challenges with Nationwide during a claim process that stemmed from a 28-hour flight delay, including bureaucratic hurdles and a lack of clear communication which led to a disappointing compensation outcome, I initially rated my experience quite poorly. However, two weeks following my initial review, Nationwide took the initiative to reach out. In this follow-up, they offered a more detailed explanation of the claims process. Additionally, they provided additional benefits which, while not fully compensating for additional costs incurred, reflected a degree of consideration and customer care that was previously absent.

This proactive approach and willingness to engage and address customer concerns have significantly altered my perception of Nationwide. While the initial experience was far from satisfactory, the subsequent effort to rectify issues demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction that should be acknowledged. Still, Nationwide can improve its initial claims process and communication, they are willing to listen to feedback and take steps to improve their customer's experience. While not entirely satisfied, I would consider using them again.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime
We're very glad we got the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime plan because we ended up getting COVID on our trip to Iceland and the plan covered and reimbursed us for the return flights we had to miss, an additional week of lodging and car rental, and new return flights.

It was hard to tell what paperwork we needed, but to be sure we got an official government PCR test and submitted the certificate we got from that as part of our claim. We filed as soon as we got back home. It took about 3 months, and then out of the blue we just got checks in the mail saying our claim was accepted. So overall, would have appreciated better documentation on what paperwork was needed, what is covered, etc, but it worked out well for us.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
One of the things that I find distressing is if you have a medical problem which delays your trip, the additional expenses incurred are not covered such as hotel, food, transportation costs, which, over 4 days or so can add up. I realize that we purchased the policy for a specific amount of time, but when that time is extended due to factors out of our control, the policy should cover some of those costs. I will be certain to ask more questions of Nationwide before I purchase their policy again.

    Thank you for your feedback on the policy. Unfortunately, the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential plan does not cover travel delay due to an illness or injury. In addition, the policy certificate does not list an illness or injury as a reason for an extension of coverage. We offer comprehensive plans from different insurance providers that do cover travel delay due to illness or injury, and extend coverage up to 7 days due to an unavoidable circumstance. In the future, please call InsureMyTrip so that our representatives can recommend a policy that best suits your needs.
