Travel Insurance Reviews for AIG Travel

It was easy to choose a plan on the InsureMyTrip site. One member of my group had to file a claim. Filing was relatively painless and payment was prompt.

We had to cancel our trip due to health issues my mother experienced prior to the trip. She was going to be watching our children while we were on the trip and due to her health issues she was not able to watch them. Filing the claim was very simple and it was processed quickly with no issues. We will be using AIG again on our next trip.

File the claim for trip interruption. The claim was approved for a full payment very quickly, waiting for a check. Very satisfied

My son and I went to visit family in La Paz, so I purchased the insurance for both of us for about $70. Best decision ever. I have never gotten sick when going home, so this was the first time I did a claim for travel insurance after getting HAPE while in La Paz. I went to the High Altitude Clinic there (IPPA), which I highly recommend. The clinic was a few thousand, but all but $50 was covered by my primary insurance and Allianz, which was definitely peace of mind when when you are sick. The clinic did an amazing job as did the travel insurance. I did have to pay out of pocket first and wait to get reimbursed, but after they provided me guidance on having to make a claim to my primary insurance before they can proceed, all was pretty straight forward. Definitely a travel must for us and will purchase again.

All the reviews I've read about the product were good to excellent - although each was qualified by the fact that a claim wasn't made. I did make a valid claim and experienced misinterpretation and denial. My claim arose because of a skipped port of call which found me in Southampton rather than Le Havre. AIG's original position was that because the delay was weather related, and my claim was for reimbursement of costs incurred within 24 hours of the delay, no payment would be made. I finally prevailed in getting the adjuster to accept my position that I was covered under Trip Interruption Benefits paragraph (b) - I won the battle but not without a good deal of back and forth. So I'd have to say that the plan works well if you don't have to make a claim but not so well if you do make a claim - Buyer beware"

Thankfully, we didn't have to submit a claim, but the policy covered what we needed for a fair price. It was a comfort to know that we had it, just in case.

I had my trip to Bhutan cancelled due to illness and this claim was handled immediately. I can't say enough good about the response and coverage regarding my choice. Thanks for all the help.

Website instructions and ancillary telephone support were available when, for the first time, I needed to file a claim. The best news: AIG Travel Guard will chase any other coverage I might have and receive whatever compensation is available. I received full payment for all that I had requested! Travel Guard took responsibility for translating my documents. The whole process of making a claim turned out to be much simpler than I had feared. I bought the coverage I thought would be most important for me and the contract was honored when I needed it! Thank you.
