This was the 2nd time we purchased this same insurance and have recently purchased it again for cruise in Nov this year. We did file a claim on this times insurance for travel delay. Hurricane Dorian delayed our cruise for 4 days and changed from a 7 day to 3 day cruise. I was waiting to review until our claim was settled. I received word today it was settled for full amount claimed in a reasonable time. We only filed for our stay in a condo and a hotel for 4 nights and 1 meal(did not keep receipts for other food and grocery shopping. I am very satisfied with the way the claim was handled. Will purchase again. Only complaint I have is the price went up from our 2018 purchase due to they dont cover children for free anymore but still think the insurance is a good deal.

Insurance Buyer Beware: Trip Interruption "for any reason" does not mean “for any reason”

Well, we recently travelled to Asia and bought an insurance policy called the "International Medical Group iTravelInsured LX plan". The policy from United States Fire Insurance/IMG iTravelInsured LX states the following in their contract "Interruption for Any Reason Benefit - up to 75% of Non-Refundable Trip Cost Insured"
Thus, in order to ensure we would be covered for all possible interruptions or delays, we spent the extra $ to get “Cancel for any reason” and “Trip Interruption for any reason”.

Soon after our travel began (first 24 hours) we faced a travel interruption at the airport, forcing us to buy new tickets and delaying our trip by 3 days. 2 weeks later in the trip we incurred another travel airline related interruption and also incurred lost baggage.

When we filed a claim for the 2 interruptions and lost baggage cases iTravelInsured rejected all 3 claims outright. The only written denial was related to the first, (and primary loss of $3,600) which was rejected because the “fine print” in the iTravelInsured LX plan states that payment for trip interruption could only be exercised 48 hours after the trip has started. We received verbal communication at that time from iTravelInsured that therefore we were also not eligible for the other 2 claims either.

Fortunately there is a formal grievance process for each loss which we filed along with tons of paperwork. After submission iTravelInsured did reluctantly pay for the second and third claim, but not the one that fell within the 48 hour exclusion.

So my advice to those reading this on insuremytrip is to note that it appears that you cannot ever get guaranteed coverage for the full length of your trip, from Travel delay through Trip Interruption, that “trip interruption for any reason” does not mean “for any reason”, and I would urge prospective insurers to re-consider buying these extended coverages or look elsewhere for policies that might cover your whole trip.

Also, given the reluctance by United States Fire Insurance/IMG iTravelInsured to fairly pay our claim the first time without going through formal grievances, I would suggest buyers to consider other policies on insuremytrip. We have bought insurance for dozens of trips and other than this company, when we have had to file a legitimate claim, the claims have been honored in a timely fashion the first time.

We returned from our trip one day ahead of schedule so clearly there was trip interruption.
My husband became ill and our doctor saw him the morning after returning home and filled out necessary paperwork. He was put on blood pressure medication.
Because he was ill and unable to drive home (4 hours), we were fortunate to have our innkeeper obtain a driver for us to bring us back to NY. Another driver followed to take our driver back to MA.(Cost: $500)
This expense was not prepaid (a reason cited for not covering the $500). In emergency situations, one cannot prepay unforeseen costs!
The policy pays for an economy plane ticket home, however, we traveled by automobile, so the cost of returning hime should have been covered!!

Comprehensive plans are designed to cover as many risks as possible, but it is limited in regards to what expenses are deemed reimbursable. Unfortunately we had to cancel the trip, but prior to final payment. My brother who was traveling with us had a brain tumor and needed surgery. We submitted 22 pages of required validation. Response was slow and they disallowed a charge. We contacted insure my trip who acted on our behalf and we were paid the amount due. My brother’s paper work was lost even though he sent it by mail with tracking so it was received at their office. Ultimately again with insure my trip rep, they decided to use my paper work and the claim was resolved. This company is not good.

We have purchased many Trip Insurance policys over the years with "insure my trip" we will continue to do so. The problem came when I suddenly fell sick before our trip to Norway and was hospitalized with sepsis. We were with IMG, what a terrible situation they put us in, I wont go over the details but there were MANY, it took 43 days to pay out our policy, and I am sure it would not be paid now if it weren't for the ADVOCATE at INSURE MY TRIP, who did a fantastic job for us and single hand got us paid. In all fairness I guess I was told IMG was going thru some computer changes and that was part of the problem, but I could never talk to the same person working on my case anytime I asked for a supervisor they were not available, VERY POOR customer service. Thanks INSUREMYTRIP.com

IMG has excellent coverage. We planned a 16 day cruise for 6/12/19. On 6/11, I had a kidney stone that resulted in emergency room care and 4 surgeries that resulted in trip cancellation. I had purchased "cancel for any reason" for an extra cost. On 6/25, I filed claim and scanned all documents required. Notified 7/24 documents unreadable and must be resubmitted. Resubmitted 7/29 via UPS. On 8/19 after 4 calls to Customer Service and Claims Supervisor, notified claim had been reviewed and recommended for settlement.
Customer Service representatives were not helpful and could only say that the claim was "in process." Asked to be referred to Supervisor. Left 4 messages for Supervisor who told me she would investigate and get resolved. Told to submit wire instructions for our Bank. Later told that they did not wire money but needed ACH instructions. Return calls often not made as promised by Supervisor.
On 9/5, claim turned over to UK Manager (Wendy). Wendy was extremely helpful and found where the problem was and worked diligently to have funds transferred. She kept us informed frequently as to the status of the funds transfer. On 9/10, claim paid in full and funds received.
A very tedious and frustrating process until we got to Wendy. Customer Service Representatives and Supervisor communications needs to be improved.
Due to the excellent coverage and reasonable price, we have contracted for our next trip.

My only complaint is that the claims process moves very slowly. I submitted all of the requested documentation and then on day 28 they requested more information - all of which (except for my bank account number) they already had. I sent all of that info the same day I received the request and my claim was finally settled on day 62. During this very long wait there was no way to get any information on the status of my claim. The settlement was fair, but definitely not prompt.

Due to medical problems I had to cancel this trip and filed a claim with IMG. From the beginning, they were slow to follow up, first with me, then with my medical provider. They asked for all medical records for a six month period, but never checked with my provider to see if they ever received the request. After a 4 week delay, I followed up with both parties and found out that IMG faxed a request for the records but never talked to anyone at my provider. After I got things straightened out, IMG again requested the records but didn't follow up to make sure that they were received. After another 3 week delay, I had to intervene again. The records were emailed to IMG within 2 days, and after another 10 days my claim was settled. Unfortunately I have another trip coming up that is insured by IMG, so I hope that I don't have to deal with them again. I do not recommend these folks to anyone.

I had the unfortunate loss during our covered trip, and upon return, filed a claim. It took 3+ months for reimbursement of funds, including 4 phone calls requesting some sort of answers for the lengthy delays. Ultimately, the claim funds were reimburse to me, however, only after a delay. This was after I submitted all the necessary paperwork, i.e. receipts, medical records, medical release of information, etc., so the delay was not on my (the customers) end. Good coverage for my families needs, but slow to reimburse the covered loss expense.
