AIG Travel Travel Guard Basic
On our annual vacation in Ireland, missed connection, Jetblue 2 hours late, to Boston. Unexpected night in Sheraton Four Points.Logan Airport. Jetblue argued we'd been notified of such prospects, giving no alternatives and declined responsibility. With some substantiation, hotel and booking receipts by email, representative confirms AIG will cover the 'unplanned expense'.
I am comforted that, with age the need to buy insurance, will be covered when needed.

I recently took a luxury trip to Tahiti. The policy cost me just over $1,400. The trip was interrupted and delayed by a aircraft maintenance issue. The missed flight resulted in a cost of over $5,000 for alternative transportation, and a missed night up at the Four Season's ($2,000). AIG Travel Insurance does not cover aircraft maintenance issues, and would only cover $100 of the night which cost me $2,000. AIG Travel Insurance won't pay your claim. Don't use them. Very unhappy with their poor insurance service and their policy is a joke. Don't waste your money on these expensive policies, since they'll find a way not to pay you on a claim. Also keep in mind for luxury travel, most of these travel insurance agencies will first make your homeowners policies to pay first, and they are the secondary. In this case, they just would not pay for the trip interruption and delay. Buyer beware, don't buy policies from AIG Travel Insurance.

As you indicated, AIG Travel Guard, per the Terms and Conditions of the policy, was only able to pay 100 USD since there was no coverage for mechanical breakdown in the Basic plan for Trip Interruption and limited coverage under Travel Delay. It is never pleasing to hear that only a portion of your claim has been paid, but it does gives us the opportunity to impress on your fellow travelers that they should review the terms of the plan prior to purchase or within the policy review period.       I spoke to the director of claims today at AIG Travel Insurance. She said that AIG pays out over 90 percent of the claims. When I asked her what percentage of the claim request amount was paid, she refused to answer. In other words, I paid 50 for a luxury trip I wanted insured, and only got 0. She considers this a paid claim. How many claims are underpaid ? When I asked her why a aircraft maintenance issue wasn't covered, she said weather was covered. When I mentioned all the other factors which delay or cancel flights, she said those would not be covered. So if you're late on a flight from air traffic control delay, or any other delay, that is not weather related, you are out of luck. I also ask her how many claims were made, in terms of policies sold. Again, she refused to answer. I left the conversation even more confused than before. What is travel insurance for, if they're not going to cover a trip delay, interruption, or cancellation ? Read your policy carefully before purchasing. Once again, your homeowners or medical insurance is the primary (you may already be covered), and any travel insurance you purchase, will be secondary insurance. And guess what, they make you document that, so your chances of getting paid your requested claim, are virtually nil.

        - travel delay - statistics show around 24 percent of flights are canceled or delayed per month. only .7 percent due to weather.

        - satisfaction guaranteed - but only within 15 day period after purchase (not after you have been denied claims or underpaid claims). I requested a refund on my policy, which was promptly denied, since my 15 day Looking Period had expired, even before my trip was completed. So, in other words, your satisfaction is not guaranteed, because your Looking Period will have expired even before you file a claim.

Due to an illness suffered on board a cruise ship, I had significant medical expenses. Upon returning home i called AIG and started a claim. I sent in the required documentation and received complete reimbursement in a timely fashion. I am very satisfied with the service I received.

I was really ready to go on vacation. Was to be with my brother and sister-in-law. But in October I had back surgery, which healed nicely before the trip. But other factors came into play so I was unable to go on trip. I was tremendously upset.
But filing a claim was easy, the representative gave me the information and help I needed to file.
The doctor sent/faxed info and I sent mine as well. I had my refund in about 10 days total from start to finish.
I would highly reccomend AIG to any and all who travel. It's the smart thing to do, ask me.

I had to process a claim. I spoke with someone who helped me right from the start. She told me what I needed to send in, and also sent me the materials in the mail to fill out just in case my printer did not work. I totally appreciated her help and everything was completed in a timely manner. I got a phone call letting me know the status of my claim, and the amount I would be receiving. It was all done professionally .

I had to submit a claim due to trip delay (our initial flight was cancelled). The agent told me what was needed, and I sent everything except one item that Allegiant Air hadn't sent me yet. Insuremytrip (AIG TravelGuard plan) called a few days later and said my claim was approved, and I would be reimbursed for the additional expenses that I had submitted. Process seemed flawless and taken care of very quickly. Would highly recommend! Thank you.

Filed a claim and received a check very promptly. Service was very good and claims agent was helpful in how to file instructions. i was a little disappointed that a $50 deductible was applied toward the claim. I did not see a deductible in the policy. If it is based on our personal health insurance, the deductible has been met for the year.
