We filed a claim for a travel delay - got stuck in Philly overnight. They paid without any questions within 4 weeks. On the other hand, we provided all receipts and airline’s letters, so there was not much to ask. They refused to pay $10 for extra day of long term parking saying that only food and lodging is covered. No matter how carefully you read the policy, there is always something missing; so, there have to be some reason involved.

    Thank you for providing feedback on your policy. The travel delay benefit in your policy is worded specifically:
    "Benefits will be paid for reasonable accommodation, meal, and local transportation expenses incurred by You, up to the Maximum Benefit Amount shown in the Confirmation of Benefits, if You are delayed for 6 hours or more while en route to or from, or during a Trip..."
    Unfortunately, the parking fee is not listed as a covered expense. Our customer service department is open 7 days a week to answer questions about our products. Please call us toll free at 800-487-4722.

The claim took approximately 90 days to process. I've filed claims with other companies and it never took that long! I was satisfied with the amount but still wasted a lot of money on the premium since that wasn't reimbursed. Thanks to InsureMyTrip the claim was finally processed. If they hadn't contacted them for me then it probably would have taken much longer.

It took numerous telephone calls to their claims administrator Trip Mate, and a month's waiting time (after I filed all necessary paper-work) before I got reimbursed for an expense which I incurred after my airline canceled a connecting flight, and I had to hire a taxi to take my wife, and I, to the connecting airport. The claims department should be more responsive when it comes to customer contact, and turn-around time.

    Thank you for your feedback on the policy. For future knowledge, customers can contact InsureMyTrip after filing a claim, and request a customer advocate. Customer advocates work hard in assisting with the claim process and can often work with insurance providers to expedite the processing of claims.

We took out flight insurance on a European trip scheduled for April 1, 2014. In early March my husband's doctor scheduled surgery for March 14 and told us that he could not make the April 1 trip. We filed our claims on March 6. We received our compensation on May 27. Much detailed paperwork was involved; even proof that we had purchased the policy despite the fact we had a policy number! We feel that TripMate, their claims administrator, was moving intentionally slow. But we were paid in full. Potential buyers should save every receipt and credit card statement and not expect speedy reimbursement.

I had to cancel my travel plans because I needed emergency surgery before the trip. I submitted claims and TravelSafe reimbursed me for my non-refunded travel costs but only making me jump through hoops to provide documents for every single expense and it took a long time to receive the check. Make sure that you have independent 3rd party proof for every expense.

I have been traveling Internationally for more than 30 years and used travel insurance many times. This is the first claim I have ever filed, due to a family member being place in hospice. I was very displeased with the claims process. I was given bad info twice on the claim when I was trying to dot every "I" and cross every "T" to make sure the claim was processed promptly. As a result the process was bogged down and payment held up, Kudos to InsureMyTrip as they have advocates on staff and the advocate got this in gear for payment.

TravelSafe Classic Plus
Plan provisions were fine for our purposes. We were traveling to foreign countries where we had relatives and knew the localities fairly well. Because we would be away for a month, we needed something that included medical.We had one unplanned doctor's visit due to illness and the expenses were fully reimbursed. It took some weeks and some extra emails/faxes to get the required information across, but the reimbursement came eventually, so no complaints. I would have no problem using this plan again.

My family missed a portion of our cruise due to flight delays. Travel safe fully paid our claim for missed days on the cruise without question or hassle. The only reason I deducted one star is because it took about 6 weeks to process.
