Our return from a skiing trip to Big Sky Montana was delayed for three days by winter storm Jonas. When we were notified of our flight cancellation, I immediately called the toll free claims number. The rep I spoke with was very polite and issued a claim number and emailed me a claim form. As requested, I kept receipts for my extra nights in the hotel and food for the delay days. After three days we were able to get a return flight home. Within three days I filed a claim. Within three weeks of filing my claim, I received payment in full for my extra hotel and food costs during my travel delay. I could not be more pleased!!

Had to cancel one trip and reschedule due to a medical issue. As always, Nationwide is a pleasure to deal with and they respond quickly, even if they need more information, to handle a claim. Of all the traveling we do, we have had to file a couple of claims over the past year, and they have been great to work with. I think the best of the best when it comes to protecting a significant trip.

When Delta wouldn't provide a document that was needed for my claim, the Nationwide Mutual agent offered to call Delta to get the information. The claim was paid so we're all good. That's above and beyond service in my book.

I purchased this plan in good faith. When our trip was changed to an earlier departure date, we were not informed of this change. Of course, we missed the trip and as soon as I found out I called the insurance company. They said the policy did not cover what had happened to us. They would not refund our money, even though the original trip date was 3 weeks away. They said they could transfer this plan to another trip but we would have to know where and when the next trip would be. We did not have another trip planed in the near future so we lost the cost of the insurance.

Submitted a Travel Delay claim due to return flight having been cancelled. Carrier advised us it would be 48 hours before they could provide an alternate flight, so I purchased a 1-way ticket with another carrier for a flight that left sooner. I incurred expenses of $263 (replacement airfare plus meals.) I submitted a claim and received a check for $150 (the maximum daily amount provided by my policy) in exactly 10 days. The company did what they were supposed to do, in a timely manner and without any hassles.

We filed a trip cancellation claim due to the death of my grandfather. We received full payment in about 2 weeks with no issues.

I have read many reviews of different insurance companies before choosing Nationwide. It turned out to be a good decision. Even though it took several emails back and forth, the situation was explained and resolved in a very professional and courteous way. The representative who handled our claim was extremely polite, professional, and caring. She tried everything in her power to expedite the process. Our experience with Nationwide was nothing but positive.
