Had to cancel because of health reasons. Cancelled on 10/18/18. Filed claim on 10/31/18. Received check for full payment on 11/12/18. I would say that it better than I ever expected.

Thank you for providing us with honest feedback. Learning about the individual experiences of our travelers helps us better shape our products and services. You are correct – 5 months is too long for a claim to be paid, and we are very sorry this has been your experience.
We are working on improving our claims process with our claims administrator, Trip Mate, so we can pay claims in a timely manner. Hopefully this one experience hasn’t prevented you from using us in the future.
We filed a claim in October 2017, for a November 2017 cruise that we cancelled. There were several hurricanes that increased their response time, which is understandable, but We had "cancel for any reason" insurance and we didn't receive our insurance reimbursement until April 2018. It took 6 months to go through the claim process. They would say they needed additional information and then two weeks later they would ask for new information that they could have asked for in the previous contact - it seemed like they were trying to delay resolution of our claim. They took so long that they threatened they were going to close our claim request because we provided an "invalid" cruise reservation number - it turns out it wasn't invalid at all, it was archived by the cruise line since it was so many months after the actual cruise date. They did pay the amount we expected, but taking 6 months to pay us is way too long.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review on your TravelSafe plan to assist your fellow travelers.
We apologize for the recent problems you experienced in your recent claim process. We agree that a six month turnaround time appears excessive for your claim. You will be pleased to know that the company recognizes this problem and have hired additional claims representatives and implemented supervisory reviews to improve on their customer performance.
In the future, please remember that InsureMyTrip also offers assistance with your claims. You can call us to request an Anytime Advocate® who will support you if the process is delayed or you believe that your claim is unfairly denied.
InsureMyTrip can be reached weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET at (800)487-4722.
Thank you for leaving a review regarding the length of your claim settlement. The amount of time you waited to reach settlement was too long. We are sorry for the inconvenience and the frustration it caused. We are taking important steps to make sure claims are settled promptly, including increasing the number of adjusters we have available. To avoid issues like the one you had experienced with your cruise reservation number, we will also be expanding the time claims will be open.
Again, we apologize for the experience you had with us during claims. We strive to provide high-level service to all of our travelers and it is never our goal to make travelers wait this long to reach settlement.
Sincerely,
Deb Grove
Vice President of Operations
TravelSafe Insurance
It took five(5) months to get the money back and it was only $1098.00 and I filled out all the paper work perfectly and did not have any additional information to send in or reports requested by the company. Not good business.

We cruise frequently and have been purchasing Travel insurance for many years. After comparing a number of policies we have come to the conclusion that TravelSafe Classic offers the best coverage in it's class at a very competitive price.
Earlier this year on the 3rd day of our 20 day cruise we got the word that a very close relative had passed away and we had to rush back. This experience exposed the strengths and weaknesses of this plan. The process of filing claim was simple and according to the acknowledgment of the receipt of the claim I was to receive a decision within 14 days. After not having heard anything for almost a month I contacted TravelSafe who told me that they were just the agents for the US Fire Insurance and claims are handled by TripMate. Unfortunately there are a lot of negative reviews about TripMate and I experienced some of the same problems. Most of the time their phone would ring for a while and then disconnect the call, other times they would put me on hold for as long as an hour and then hang up. A few times I got the option to leave a message with a promise of receiving a call back within a few hours but no one ever called back. At least four times I managed to actually talk to an agent, each time they would take my information and promise to get back to me the next day but never heard back from any of them. After two and a half months of not getting anywhere with TripMate I requested assistance from TravelSafe who contacted TripMate on my behalf and within 2 weeks my claim was processed. In the end it took about 3 months and I received the full value of the benefits I had purchased. I am not sure how much longer it would have taken had TravelSafe not intervened. In spite of our frustrating experience with TripMate we just purchased TavelSafe Classic Plan for our upcoming cruise because it provides excellent coverage at a reasonable cost and I am told that TripMate is working on improving it's customer service.
On a side note, InsureMyTrip claims that if you purchase a policy through them they act as an advocate on your behalf, however, it was my experience that all InsureMyTrip did for me was to give me the telephone number of TravelSafe.

So after several cruises over the course of 15 years, we finally had to visit the ship doctor. My husband was coughing uncontrollably and didn't feel well (but no fever). The ship doctor thought it was the flu even though it did not test positive for flu. He was prescribed Tamaflu and something for the cough. He was not quarantined but he self quarantined for a couple of days, when he was feeling much better.
As soon as we returned on 3/20, we submitted the $244 bill to Travel Safe. I was very careful to include all the documentation they asked for, including the original cruise invoice, the doctors bill, our list of onboard charges from the cruise line, copiy of his passport (?). - luckily I am fairly meticulous about keeping copies of things in film so I could quickly get these together.
It was a small claim and pretty straightforward, so I was hoping there would be no more hoops to jump through. I submitted on 3/20 and we just got the check today on 5/12. No problem other than the length of time involved, almost 8 weeks. I would use them again, just be aware that you have to wait for their processing.

Excellent coverage for the value. I recently had to file a medical claim - The process was relatively simple and the claim was paid in a few weeks. Easy Peasy. My only complaint is that the "online" claim process is just filling out a form, which you still have to print and snail mail with copies of documentation. But in the bigger scheme of things, it was not that big of a deal.

I was going to do a claim for medical and decided after spending an hour trying to get the forms sent to me and them trying to find my coverage that it wasn't even worth it, especially will all the paperwork I needed to complete and to provide proof of payment of the plan when in deed they knew I purchased the plan OR it wouldn't' even be in the system. I don't have time to do the stuff asked when its nonsense!

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. The supporting documentation required for travel insurance claims is standard. It sounds as if the claims department was asking for proof of payment for the trip.
InsureMyTrip offers Customer Advocates in the event a customer experiences an issue with their claim. If you decide to file a claim, please call us at 800-487-4722 and request the assistance of a Customer Advocate. We would be happy to help you.
obviously the trip was paid for if I bought insurance and went, with proof of my receipt from the cruise ship doctor. Having to collect credit card statements of my trip bought would take time. Regardless of the trip being paid, If I bought insurance and my receipt is from a cruise ship that should be proof.
The documentation that you are being asked to provide may seem redundant, but it is a universal requirement for travel insurance claims. On average, the claims process takes between 3-5 weeks. We would be happy to advocate for you if a claim is filed. Our Customer Advocates can be reached at 800-487-4722 and [email protected].
We had to cancel our trip back in Feb. we began the process. AS of today 4/26/16 we have not received payment. I have called several times and have gotten the run around. This is not a reliable company to deal with in my opinion and will not recommend it in the future.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip because a family member became seriously ill. I had never had a trip insurance claim before and wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at the prompt and helpful service I received and the prompt claim payment. I made several calls to discuss questions and each representative was friendly, helpful and caring. It made the very difficult time easier to cope with.
