My claim experience with this company has been one of the worst experiences ever. To make a long story short, after receiving a partial check for my claim, I tried to invoke the appeals procedure as contained in the policy. I called, emailed, and wrote numerous times. I was completely ignored. I never received a reply to any request. I wrote requesting a formal appeal and never received a reply. I contacted insuremytrip, com and they were of no help. I would not recommend using this company.

I purchased travel insurance for a plane ticket. When the program was canceled and my daughter had to return home, we had to purchase another flight home. After waiting 9 weeks for the claim to be processed, we were denied, saying that it was not a "covered reason". Why did I buy insurance if the trip cancellation has so many loopholes that it won't pay? I will NEVER buy insurance from you again and I travel quite a bit. Furthermore, I will review you negatively on every site I can find....and tell everyone I know NOT to use you.

Revised review: I don't judge an organization on whether or not a mistake is made, I judge it on how it responds to its own mistake. My experience was that this company would not "make right" its own mistake (after weeks of phone calls) until I wrote an appeal and until InsureMyTrip got involved to advocate for me. Then finally I got the money expected. Details ...

I bought this policy with an optional upgrade. After Lufthansa damaged a piece of our Rimowa luggage I called TI International to verify the benefits available to me under my plan and was told over the phone that our coverage for one piece of luggage would be up to $500. So I went through the process of filing a claim with Lufthansa and getting a repair estimate with Rimowa. I accepted Lufthansa's offer of $150 because I knew that I had $500 of coverage with this trip insurance. So when Rimowa told me it would cost about $680 to replace the luggage (our's was not fixable) I didn't worry.

After filing the claim with TI International, I find out that they would only send a check for $250. I called them, certain this was an error, but apparently our plan only covered $250 for a piece of luggage. I take good notes and pointed out that their own representative verified we were covered for $500, and was told management will review the audio of the phone call. Management did review the phone call and did admit that indeed their representative told me the bag was covered for $500, but since I didn't purchase the policy based on false information they would only be paying me $250. They gave an example of if I had lost luggage and called to find out what our coverage was to buy clothes, etc. on our trip and was given the wrong coverage number and then spent money based on that incorrect number, they'd cover that. After telling them that indeed I did base a financial decision based on the wrong coverage number, i.e. I accepted Lufthansa's $150 offer because I knew I had $500 coming to replace the bag, their response was I could go back to Lufthansa and try to get more!!! I do not see how this is different from the example they provided of someone spending more on clothes because they were told an incorrect coverage amount over the phone.

After many phone calls they admitted several times that their representative gave me the wrong coverage information and said they made sure to correct her for future interactions. They apologized. But they would not financially stand behind their clear and verified mistake and sent me just $250. They even suggested I should have known what the coverage was by reading their long form coverage document, but I pointed out that their own employee who works with this all day did not know what the coverage amount was!

I wrote an appeal to TI International, wrote my original review here, and InsureMyTrip got involved to advocate for me (appreciated). Then TI International left me a voicemail apologizing and sent me a check for the other $250.

After waiting over 40 days for this company to honor my claim I had to contact Insure My Trip. Within 4 days, this company reviewed and paid my claim. I sent EVERYTHING to this company on February 20th including all medical records, emergency room records, and all of the documents they required along with letters from my physician and travel agent. They had ALL the documentation they needed on February 20th, and I finally received a check on April 10th ONLY after contacting Insure My Trip. I would not use this company again!

I am very disappointed with C&F Travel Insured International. I fractured my ankle while on vacation, an unstable bimalleolar ankle fracture that needed surgery, but when I contacted them for assistance to return home early I was told I would have to cover the cost (between $6,000-$11,000) and then their medical professionals would determine if it was considered an emergency to them thereby qualifying for reimbursement. Unfortunately they would not or could not tell me if it was an emergency to them until after I was home.
As I opted not to chance the added expense of the high prices to come home early, (risking delayed surgery), I attempted to make the best of it by renting a wheelchair to be pushed around town. However, again I was told it was not covered unless I had a doctor's prescription. Unfortunately at that point I had moved on with our itinerary and was no longer in contact with the Emergency Room Physician.
Of course, it goes without saying that the taxi from the Emergency Room to hotel, the taxi to go one block from hotel to a scheduled shuttle, and the taxi to get the wheelchair delivered wasn't even considered.
I truly feel I was in a bait and switch situation with the airfare (my own airline to get home early was $3000 with my own search) and C&F Travel Insured would do anything not to pay out in assisting me during a personal crisis.

I had to file a claim when AA canceled my flight a few hours before my trip. I contacted C&F Travel Insured, and after my cruise l sent in the paperwork needed. It took about a month, but I received a call today stating l would have a check in about a week. Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, l think that is a wonderful turn around. Thank you!

SAVE YOUR MONEY...Due to the Coronavirus, we were told to purchase the extra coverage for Cancel for No Reason. We had to head home early from our trip to Cartagena, Columbia due to different reasons within our group of 8. IE:
-The couple paying for the villa had to leave due to a babysitter issue at home
- I started with a horrible headache, chills, sore throat, ear ache (visited doctor same day I got back and was diagnosed with flu, strep throat and an ear infection)
-airlines that 4 of the people in our group were booked with started cancelling all flts
-we couldn't get a hold of our airline
-owner of the villa we were staying "recommended we leave" as she couldn't guarantee she could keep it staffed
-another member of our group re injured a previous injury/surgery to her hamstring and was immobile.

Thus being said, the insurance is claiming this is all Coronavirus issues and will not honor any of the contract including Trip Interruption.
I ALSO WANT TO POINT OUT THAT WE WE UNABLE TO REACH INSUREOURTRIP BEFORE MAKING THE DECISION TO LEAVE AND FOR 5 DAYS AFTER OUR RETURN

    Thank you for your feedback.

We are sorry to hear you had trouble getting in touch with us and that your trip was interrupted. Our call volume in March topped out around 200%. We would also like to advise that when on a trip needing assistance, you will want to call the provider's 24 hour assistance line. As brokers we will not be able to assist you in this situation.

Please see the response from C&F Travel Insured regarding your review:

We missed our scheduled connection at CDG by 8 minutes. As a result, our flight to NAP was delayed 12 hours. We filed a modest claim along with required supporting documentation for the extra costs (~$150) we incurred due to the long delay and our full claim was paid within thirty days of submission. While the insurance contract contains many limitations and exceptions, and the supporting claim documentation required was not insignificant, we would recommend this travel insurance company based on our positive experience. They are a reputable business.

My wife and I were on a land and sea vacation with Princess Cruises. My wife became ill the last 3 days on the Coral Princess. We had to see the doctor at 3:45am. When we returned home I submitted the appropriate paper work required by C&F Travel insurance. Three weeks later I received an email from them stating that they approved our claim and a check would be sent to us in about on week. Glad we purchased the travel insurance. We have purchased travel insurances in the past on many of our trips and never used it. On this trip it paid off!!
We did pay for the option of making this insurance our primary so we did not have to submit multiple paperwork. One negative comment is that when submitting documents via email to C&F you can only send a maximum of a 12mb file which was not stated in there forms. I had to submit 2 different files.
I would recommend C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector. In my case, they came through!
