Basically, the plan coverage was far less than I had expected. In the end we cancelled our trip at the earliets penalty deadline because of mounting EU/Italy/Covid uncertainties. We cancelled in time to avoid most penalties. We could not cancel several train tickets and resceduling was a nonstarter. Our claim was thus relatively minor (less than 5% of trip cost) and less than half of the premium paid. It seemed like a fair claim.
Lesson: Read the fine print which, it turns out, eliminated all the threats that I thought were most likely and needed to be insured.

Unfortunately, uncertainties and fears related to travel are not covered reasons under the policy (and would not be covered events for most policies).

I contracted pneumonia the day before we were supposed to return from Italy. Once home and somewhat functional, I submitted the receipts for the Doctor visit (came to hotel late at night), medications (including injections, prescriptions, & OTC), additional night at hotel, and airfare change fee. Travelex paid all the expenses submitted within 14 days. The only glitch we had was when my husband called TravelEx from Italy to find out how to proceed. The woman who answered the Travelex international "assistance" number would not provide any assistance or suggestions, other than stating we needed to file a claim - however, she refused to take our policy number to initiate one (she also refused to give her name). Thankfully, our Tour Manager was very helpful, and all our other dealings with Travelex were stellar. We will definitely use them again.

Our Samsung Galaxy S2 Tablet was stolen from the crowded mandatory bag check in counter at Borghese Gallery in Rome, Italy on October 7, 2018. We had the tablet in our possession during the entire 2 hour tour. As we retrieved our checked our bags, my husband put down his tablet in order to take bags into his hands. He put his camera back into his camera bag and when he turned to pick up his tablet from the counter, the tablet was already gone. We reported to security but there was nothing they could do. It was our last day in Italy. As soon as we arrived home the next day, we contacted Travelex and was able to file a claim online. They told us it would take 4 weeks before any decision would be made. Sure enough on November 8, we received an email stating that our claim was approved and on November 12, we received our check for $400+ the full amount to purchase a new tablet. We have bought travel insurance in the past, but this was the first time we filed a claim and we was not optimistic that we would get compensation, but we did! Thank you Travelex for coming through for us.

We had two visits to the ship's doctor while on a cruise to Croatia. We submitted the paper work for the claims and received the payment we were expecting in 5 weeks. This was the first claim we have ever submitted on a travel insurance policy and we were very pleased the service and results.

A claim was submitted because there was a trip interruption during the cruise in that a port of call was not fulfilled due to weather, a valid condition. Travelex did not honor the claim basically saying that the cruise itself was not interrupted. However, we would not have incurred this additional expense for this port if it were not originally listed in the itinerary. I thought I had appropriate protection coverage only to find out this was not the case. BUYER BEWARE!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!

3. Common Carrier delays resulting from inclement weather, or mechanical breakdown or organized labor strikes that affect public transportation.
4. arrangements cancelled by an airline, cruise line, motor coach company or tour operator, resulting from inclement weather, mechanical breakdown or organized labor strikes that affect public transportation.
Missed Cruise Connection Benefit:
We will reimburse you for Covered Expenses, up to the amount shown in the schedule, should you miss your cruise departure as a result of the cancellation or delay of 3 or more hours of all regularly scheduled airline flights due to inclement weather.

Two weeks before my scheduled departure, I fell and broke my elbow, so the trip had to be cancelled. I called Travelex and they emailed me the forms for my doctor to fill out. He did so, I returned them to Travelex, and within a month I received a check in full for my claim amount. It was a pretty open-and-shut case, and it went without a hitch. I am satisfied and grateful for the prompt and smooth handling of my claim.
