What a horrible claims experience! If you peruse through the reviews you will see that nearly everyone who has actually filed a claim with this company had a poor experience. Their claim submission process is clunky and unforgiving. I uploaded 60+ documents supporting my claim and they came back asking for more (for example, a receipt from a travel supplier showing paid in full by a credit card is not considered proof of payment. They want a copy of your credit card statement). Their turnaround time to respond to each request is 30 business days, so the process drags on very slowly. Ultimately, a random deposit showed up in my bank account for a partial payment, but I've never received any explanation of what was paid and what wasn't. I've repeatedly contacted them through their secure messaging but never get anything back other than an acknowledgement of my message. You can get a live person to answer the phone but they don't know anything about your claim so that's a waste. The last correspondence I got was on June 10, and they still had my claim as "Stage 1 initial review". It is now September 20 and I've heard nothing more from them. It's like a black hole. I guess I should be thankful that they paid me anything. I will never do business with this company again.

Have purchased plans from Insure My Trip several times, but have never had to use one. Unfortunately, had a trip delay this time and the plan did cover what it said it would. Claim submission was easy and received checks in the mail within a few weeks of submitting my claim form.

I purchased travel insurance through InsureMyTrip (policy was with WorldTrips - Atlas Journey). I highly recommend this policy as you will see in my review below, as we had a medical emergency and successfully filed a claim.

While traveling in Italy in late May of this year (2024), with my wife and two small children (under age 3), my wife fell and fractured her pelvis. We promptly went to a regional Sicilian hospital for diagnosis and treatment, where she was recommended 30 days bed rest with no movement off of her back.

I immediately called the number on the policy, which directed me through On Call International, the "Travel Risk Management & Emergency Assistance Solutions" coordinator contracted by World Trips.

Long story short:

It took ~48 hours for On Call International to:
- obtain medical records,
- review internally and meet with medical team,
- approve emergency medical evacuation with the insurer (World Trips),
- coordinate Air Ambulance (Reva Air),
- coordinate admittance to hospital near our home,
- and fully schedule the return itinerary

About a total of 4 days after initially contacting World Trips, we were on a plane home.

It's worth noting that we had $1,000,000 in "Medical Evacuation & Repatriation" coverage on this policy. If I had to guess, the air ambulance alone was 1/4 of that.

Additionally, they approved all of our trip interruption claims (approx $3,000 of non-refundable hotels, plane tickets, etc.)

The emergency management contractors I worked with in coordinating our repatriation (OnCallInternational, and the air ambulance company Reva Air) were excellent providers and advocated for us. I spent many hours on the phone coordinating everything, and they were always available. The repatriation was complicated by my wife's condition, and the fact that we had an 8 month old baby and 3 year old toddler, were located 3 hours from the airport, and numerous other factors.

World Trips honored the policy and provided us with all of the coverage described in the policy documents. Additionally, they quickly processed our trip interruption claims (that took 4-6 weeks to fully process)

Always buy travel insurance! It's cheap! Let me know if you have any questions.

We bought the Atlas Journey Economy plan never imagining the worst-- a serious accident in small city Sicily resulting in a 5 week hospital stay, transfer by ground and air ambulance, surgery (in a public hospital in Sicily, not recommended!) The company that Atlas uses to facilitate care, OnCall International, did some things well and some things VERY poorly. Their coordination of care depends heavily on the care provider (doctor) being willing to communicate with their medical team, resulting in delays of (what I perceived as) timely and appropriate transfers for medical care, and return home. That being said, they were always available to me by phone, quickly authorized care where covered and appropriate. Their staff on the whole was supportive and helpful.

I recognize our case was quite complicated by the horrible attitude and lack of cooperation by the care providers in Sicily (noted to me by the families of other patients and local people as well, and validated by the doctors in Rome who, despite repeated attempts by OnCall International NEVER provided a detailed care summary to the doctors in Rome who assumed treatment, or to me). I believe that OnCall did try their best, but their "local affiliates" in both Sicily and Rome were less effective than I would have liked in getting things done in a timely manner to get my husband out of Sicily and to Rome.

Otherwise I think the company did an excellent job of getting care for my husband against the backdrop of a really difficult situation.

I am currently in the process of submitting the non-medical (trip interruption) portion of the claim so can't yet comment on the brokers used by the company for that. I will say that the WorldTrips agent was very helpful in pointing me in the right direction regarding contact numbers, forms needed and the like.

I wouldn't hesitate to use this company again-- although given what we have cost them they might not be happy to insure us again!

My claim was due to illness. My companion could not travel. I provided a letter from her doctor. Due to confidentially (HIPPA) I could not request a doctor to complete a separate form. I was only asking for a small portion of my travel ticket to be return. Your customer service agent would never refer me to a supervisor and every case cannot be settle via a form. Via face book and every person i speak with will no about your stealing insurance money not providing restitution.

I would absolutely tell every person I know to avoid this company. It is a complete and total rip off. Cancel for any reason is complete BS.

We purchased this plan because we were traveling abroad twice - first to Italy and a 12 day cruise in April and then to Norway, Sweden and Denmark the end of August. The day we landed in Oslo Norway we had to take my husband to the hospital because we thought he was having a heart attack. Thankfully, it was not. We traveled the end of August and I am writing this review the first part of November, and we still have not received reimbursement for the medical costs, which should have been covered under this plan. Very poor customer service, no response to phone calls, had to submit the claim forms three times electronically and finally gave up and mailed them in. Would not recommend HCC - Medical Insurance Service Group to anyone!
