I was unsatisfied with the slow speed of processing our claim (two months) and the settlement. The company denied the airfare cost of my family of four returning home early from our Irish vacation because two of our party came down with pneumonia. They did pay for the medical and lodging costs due to an air delay, but not the cost of the additional airfare to cut our trip short, which was the bulk of our claim. I travel a lot and purchase trip insurance regularly. The one thing I purchase insurance for is hassle free coverage and timeliness. IMG fell short in both regards. This is the first time i have used IMG and it will be the last.

Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. I guess this plan would cover the biggies, medic evac, medical emergency or if trip is cancelled for one of the covered reasons. I was denied coverage when our taxi failed to pick us up and we missed our bus for one leg of a 3 day excursion. I had to immediately hire a private car to get us to the second leg of trip.( $206) Claims denied because delay was not over 6 hrs. (I could not wait that long to make other arrangements) and because the taxi was not delayed because of terror, weather, etc. Just check to be sure you understand the limitations of the policy. Nice folks to work with otherwise.

Our flight on Wow Air was cancelled the night before our trip to Europe. And with their limited flights to our city, the next available flight was 8 days later, causing us to miss most of the planned trip. Therefore, we had to cancel our trip. We filed a claim for the nonrefundable hotels and tours. It took about two months to process, but they paid the full amount. I would recommend them as they bailed us out of thousands of dollars of loss.

Bought trip insurance in May for wife and i for a 8/4/18 trip. Had to cancel 48 hours before leaving due to my wife injury. Took 48 days and more then 24 contacts after filing to get paid - usual response - "working on it, will expedite, will call you back (8 times, never did), claim approved and will be paid in 1-3 days ( on day 32) , claim size large takes longer, back office very busy to respond, etc."
Only after contacting InsuremyTrip (IMT) on day 42 did things start to move at IMG and a check was mailed 6 days later.
Stay away from IMG. Insuremytrip staff were very helpful and responsive but they should remove IMG from their offer lit.

    Although it may have taken more than 42 days to respond, we are glad to hear that you received your check. Unfortunately, International Medical Group, as with many other travel providers, have a lengthier turnaround time during hurricane season in processing claims.

There was value with the coverage plan and the terms with the cost paid. I did have to file a medical claim for reimbursement when we got back home, and the process took longer than what was initially reported to me. I was told there would be a disposition in 20 calendar days, however it took 90 calendar days. Every few times I called their customer service number, I was told that ‘there was a high number of claims to be processed in the summer months’, and to wait. Slightly unsettling to hear, however the claim was indeed processed accurately...in 3 months.

I had to cut short a tour this summer because of a medical problem. At home, I gathered all the documents that the insurer required for Trip Interruption and sent the packet to I Travel Insured by Priority Mail. I called the insurer about ten days after the package had arrived according to USPS tracking. The rep I spoke to checked and said it had NOT arrived--but he would check again and call me back in 2 days. Never happened. So I called again, spoke to someone else and got same response even after I had sent USPS tracking showing the date and time it had arrived and that it had been picked up that day. Neither rep said "sorry," "must be a problem at our end,"--nothing the least bit concerned or helpful. I then contacted Insure My Trip, and they
were extremely helpful!! They contacted this insurer, and, lo and behold, they DID have my packet of documents.
The Insure My Trip person stayed on my case until the claim was approved and my check arrived. 5 stars for Insure My
Trip, no stars for customer service for this insurer, but they did end up paying my claim, thanks to Insure My Trip.

The plan was affordable. I needed coverage for a condo rental which I could not use due to work reasons. I immediately filed a claim. Carefully following the instructions- or so I thought. However it took 11 weeks from the time I first submitted the claim and to the time I received payment for the claim. The receipts I submitted evidently weren’t sufficient, so they requested my credit card statements. I immediately provided them but rather then reviewing my updated claim right away, this placed me back at the beginning of the process it seemed. From my experience I suggest following up immediately after 15 days have passed and submit all receipts and your credit card statements to avoid delays. My claim was approved. It just took a very long time and lots of following up.

I don't feel that the denial of my claim was fair. The violence and political unrest in Nicaragua was untenable. Food and transportation shortages, work stoppages in almost every town. Because only an act of war was a valid reason for cancellation based on politics, my very valid reason was that my employment was terminated because of the situation, and so my trip had to be cancelled. I was denied because the "duration of my employment was less than a year". Not true. I signed the contract a year ago, and that year anniversary would have occurred within 5 days of beginning my time in Nicaragua. Very disappointed that my insurance plan didn't cover circumstances that were completely beyond my control.

We are sorry to learn that you were unable to travel and are dissatisfied with this policy. The claims administrator is required to adjudicate claims based on the terms and conditions of the policy.

    This policy covers termination of employment as a covered reason to cancel under the following terms:
    "involuntary employer termination or layoff of You or a Traveling Companion. Employment must have been with the same employer for at least one (1) continuous year."

    Unfortunately, if you are a contractor and not considered an employee, this would not be a covered reason to cancel on this policy. We do have policies that will cover self-employment/contract work.

    We strongly recommend customers read the terms and conditions of the policy within the review period to determine if the policy fits your needs. If the policy does not fit your needs, it can be cancelled within the review period for a refund of premium. In the future, please consider calling us at 800-487-4772 prior to purchase so that we can guide you towards policies that best suit your needs.
