We bought the insurance for hurricane coverage, ended up needing to leave a day early due to forecasted landfall of Dorian. Covered the unused night at the condo, the only loss of the trip.

When we scheduled our trip , we had purchased insurance through insure my trip with John Hancock. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel our planned trip. I contacted the insurance company and they were very helpful in instructing me with the needed documentation and follow up, We are awaiting the refund which we have been told will be arriving shortly,

I have been a customer of Insure My Trip for several years and purchased this plan on their recommendation.
We had to file a claim and these folks are extremely unprofessional.Eventually, they paid the claim in full but I would not recommend John Hancock Company company to anyone.
I fault John Hancock and not Insure My Trip who I will continue to do business with in the future.

My trip was in late May 2019. I filed the initial claim May 4, 2019 because one of the four couples in our group had to drop out. The form for me to fill out for the claim didn't arrive until 3 weeks later while I was on my trip. I replied to the mail saying that I would fill it out when I got back in town. 2 days after I got home, I got an email stating that the claim was canceled since I hadn't sent the form back. I sent the form back later that week. After not hearing anything for several weeks I called and was told that things were being processed and that they were on a 3 week backlog. I heard back, they asked for more info, I provided it, 3-4 weeks pass, they ask for more info, I provide it, 3-4 weeks pass, they ask for more info, I provide it, 3-4 weeks pass and I finally get a response that they would be mailing me a check. I received the check today, 4 months and 1 week after my initial claim. They fully paid the claim, but the timeliness is lacking. Also, they do not reply to email. The next time I buy travel insurance, which will likely be later this year, I will not buy it with John Hancock.

    For the future, please remember that promise of our "Anytime Advocates" who will support you with the process if you feel a claim has been delayed and unfairly denied.

Make sure to add many extra days to the end dates on your trip. I was denied my travel delay claim coming home because the delay caused me to be one day after the date I said I was returning. It took John Hancock 3 weeks to respond and that was after I had to send an email requesting any kind or correspondence requesting letting me know they received my claim. I will say the employees were kind and helpful when on the phone with them.

    "When Your Coverage Ends:
    Coverage is effective for the stated term shown in the confirmation of benefits. In addition, Your coverage will end at 11:59 P.M. local time on the earliest of the following dates:
    (a) the date You cancel Your Covered Trip;
    (b) the Scheduled Return Date as stated on the travel tickets;
    (c) the date You return to Your origination point if prior to the Scheduled Return Date; or
    (d) the date You leave or change Your Covered Trip (unless due to Unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances covered by the Policy)."

Back on July 23rd, 2019 we sent you an email asking for additional claim information if you wished us to assign an "Anytime" advocate to review the claim file, but you did not reply. If you have changed your mind and would like InsureMyTrip to look into that claim, would you please reply to the email requesting that additional claim information back on July 23rd.

I was pleased with my trip insurance with John Hancock. I submitted a claim for a delayed flight and they handled my claim in an expedited manner and to my satisfaction. I would use them again and recommend to others.

I had to cancel my trip due to an accident and the plan covered my expenses.

However, the claims administrator for JH, Seven Corners was not a company that I would like to deal with again. Their website and processes are archaic which resulted in many phone calls to follow up. There is zero transparency since you only talk to a customers service rep who knows nothing about the claim. Also, if you are asked for additional information, the SLA timing starts all over upon receiving requested information.

I finally received an email saying that they are sending a check so I'm crossing my fingers that it arrives in the mail.
