Thank you for your feedback, Michele. We're sorry to hear about the circumstances surrounding your claim and apologize for not meeting your expectations. We want our customers to choose the correct policy to fit their needs and cannot stress enough that it is important to review the coverage details of our plans via the Plan Document that’s provided at the time of purchase, and contact us at (800) 348-9505 or via email at [email protected] with any additional questions. We have dedicated customer service representatives who can clarify the plan terms and conditions and guide you towards the best coverages. While the plan you purchased includes approximately 20 different covered events that can qualify for Trip Cancellation coverage, the plan is unfortunately unable to provide coverage for every event that might cause you to cancel. If there is something specific that you want to be sure is covered, please reach out to us before you purchase your plan. If you have any further questions, please reach out to us at the phone or email listed above.
Generali is only good at one thing: collecting your premiums. God helps you if you need to file a claim, as I did. I had a very straightforward $720 claim (caused by a 24 flight delay at the end of a trip), and for the last 4 weeks I have not even been able to have Generali to put my claim into their system (which I initially did by email, as they recommend); given their inaction, I decided to call in, and after much effort and wait-time to get a live person, the customer rep I talked said that she was going to make sure that my claim was entered in their system, and it is still not done 2 weeks later; so I went on their web site and did it again myself. And so after hours of effort, over a month, I am still at square one: my claim has "just been filed". After such a start I can't wait to see how many more hrs of my time and months it is going to take to get my claim processed and paid. And that's a SUPER SIMPLE one. How lame.

I filed a claim, with much required documentation on 19 SEP and received an acknowledgement of receipt on 25 SEP. I received a favorable response on 19 OCT and a check for the full amount of my claim on 28 OCT.

Over the past 2 weeks I have made 14 telephone attempts to obtain an answer as to why my claim was only partially paid. Multiple voicemails and internal memos have not been answered except for one, from a Gerard Pardieu, which was unintelligible. I have not been able to make a satisfactory connection with a claims representative and I am becoming very frustrated. I am in the process of filing a complaint with the State of Washington Insurance Commissioner.

My trip was interrupted by strikes in Israel in March. Generali acknowledged that the strikes were a covered event through my policy but have refused to refund me the cost of the replacement flight I had to purchase because of the interruption. I have emailed Generali multiple times over 7 months and Generali continues to respond with the same inaccurate information. Generali refuses to connect with me by phone to discuss the claim.

Thank you for your feedback, Nathan. We're sorry to hear your trip was interrupted and apologize for not meeting your expectations. We take customer service and the claims review process very seriously and cannot stress enough to our customers that it is important they review the coverage details of our plans via the sample Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy that’s provided at the time of purchase, and contact us at (800) 348-9505 or via email at [email protected] with any additional questions you may have. The plan you purchased can provide coverage for additional expenses you incurred to return home or catch up with your scheduled trip if your trip is interrupted due to a covered reason, such as a flight delay resulting from adverse weather. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to us at the number or email provided above.
I really wanted to take the Lewis and Clark cruise I had scheduled -- but I hurt my knee playing golf and had emergency surgery. No way I could go on my trip. SO easy to file claim on line. And money was Zelled into my checking account within days. Very efficient in handling my claim. No problems at all. I was VERY pleased with this great company.

I have taken out Generali policies several times for our trips. I have only submitted claims twice. The first time I had two claims that were both paid. Most recently I again had two claims. one was paid and the other was denied. While the denial followed the contract guidelines, I was disappointed as the cruise ship recommended I file the claim after they refused to reimburse me for a missed excursion.
