Had a dental emergency and paid about $1000 for emergency treatment and repair. The maximum coverage of $500 was paid directly into my account within a few days of my sending an online claim. Next time I may look for higher dental coverage but I was treated fairly and quickly by BHTP.

We have purchased travel insurance every year however, this was the first time we had a claim. We will use Berkshire Hathaway Insurance again in the future, as well as recommend them . Very happy about the entire process........

I contacted them when my wife had a medical emergency while traveling, and although their immediate assistance turned out to not be necessary, it was reassuring to know that it was there if we needed it. A few days after I contacted them, they reached out to make sure my wife was OK and no longer in need of help. The claims process (medical and trip interruption) was straight-forward, and while the list of documents and forms was time-consuming to produce, there were no impossible-to-get requests, such as some other less scrupulous insurers demand. The claim was approved within one week, unlike the 30 days that other, less scrupulous insurers demand. I would definitely buy another policy from them, as the human concern during the emergency, and the speed with which the claim was eventually approved were both very good.

Our tour operator went bankrupt and fortunately we had bought insurance with tour operator default coverage, something not available from alot of companies or alot of plans. Berkshire Hathaway was reasonable in the documentation they required and, with some prodding from us, was responsive and did cover our entire loss (less what we recovered through our own efforts). Overall we were very satisfied and would use them again.

They were hard to get a hold of after I had a fall and was in the emergency department. All they were required to do was send a fax to the emergency room which is what was requested, however the consultant on the phone instead decided to email and left me sitting in the emergency room for a further 3 hours because the email when to somewhere else in the hospital. I had to have friends at home ring them 5 further times in the middle of the night before the fax was received. I would not recommend this insurance company and I’m glad it wasn’t a major accident or I would have suffered.

After reviewing the details of your assistance case, we see several communication interactions with you for a request to have a verification of benefits faxed directly to your medical provider. Our case notes indicate those were faxed within an hour and a half of your original call and request. However, we do agree your request could have been completed in a more timely manner unfortunately due to our misunderstanding by first sending the verification of benefits to the medical provider via email.
