I filed a claim after my brand new $1000 camera was drenched with a mixed drink. I was told that I had to file with my home owner's policy first. Isn't the whole purpose of having paid extra for this insurance so that I get better coverage and don't have to take the hit with my primary? I was told that if I did not do that, I'd be limited to $500 (my deductible on my HO policy). So I filed, and was denied. Then still only got $500. Because that's all the policy covers. I can't find that anywhere in the 20pages of fine print. Feel like the adjuster was less than honest/genuine.

    Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your camera was damaged on your trip. The AIG Travel Guard Gold provides Secondary coverage for Baggage and Personal Effects. If a travel insurance plan is secondary, the insured person(s) would be required to file a claim with their Homeowner's insurance first. If coverage is denied or only partially provided, the travel insurance would cover the remainder, up to the policy limit.

    As stated in your policy certificate, your plan covers the following under Baggage and Personal Effects:
    "The Company will reimburse the Insured up to:

    • 500USD for the first item and thereafter

    • 250USD per each additional item

    • 500USD aggregate on all Losses to: jewelry, watches, furs, cameras and camera equipment, camcorders, computers, electronic devices, including but not limited to: lap top computers, cell phones, electronic organizers and portable CD players."

AIG Travel Travel Guard Essential Expanded
48 hours before departure, my physician called and told me that routine tests had identified a condition which required immediate follow-up. I called AIG the next morning, was provided claim forms that day and the claim was approved in about 4 weeks. It was a pretty easy process.

I own a small business and AIG has the only plan where I'm covered if I need to cancel a trip if something happens that I have to take care of in my business. They're the only company I'll work with anymore.

Coverage was good. So sorry we had to cancel because of a medical emergency. Claim filing process with Christopher was excellent... he made a difficult situation much less stressful

I was denied my claim because the Travel agency, Sinorama, went bankrupt and this wasn't covered.

Purchased insurance for a Hawaii cruise. Price was reasonable, more than some, less than others. Decent coverage, all things considered. The returning flight was cancelled (reason unknown), but airline would not offer any assistance for lodging and food to board the same flight next day. Booked a hotel and filed a claim upon returning home. Process was quirky (created claim, by EACH person and submitted receipts). No notice other than a claim filed email. Progress checks only said that..."In Progress". Then suddenly one month later, a second email saying the claim would be paid (less luggage storage fees). Check arrived today, Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas!

We filed a claim for prepaid transport from the cruise port in Venice to the airport. Due to high winds and waves, our cruise docked late and people were not allowed to de board until nearly 10AM. We contacted the transport firm and they said they were re-scheduled, but we did not know when we could de-board. They insisted we rescheduled but we coild not provide them a time (and which they said they only wait 15 minutes, so we cancelled). We were emailed that the claim is being processed. About 10 days later, we received an email that our claim for prepaid shuttle to airport costs was honored and we will be getting a check back covering those lost costs. The check arrived today and we are delighted by the outcome and positive service from AIG.
