I had to repeatedly submit documentation and when I tried to call and speak with an agent, I was not able to contact anyone. It was a very difficult process and not easy to submit what was requested. I would not recommend this company in the future.

We DID need to file a claim. We were planning a family trip to Africa with the whole family including the grandchildren. Unfortunately, we couldn't go, but we had already paid a very large deposit and had paid for all the airfare. Each family bought a separate policy. Our children chose the policy offered by the travel company. We chose ITravelInsured. Our policy was less expensive, more comprehensive, and faster to reimburse. However, that said, it took a long time and much paperwork to get our refund. One hint I learned is to insure the airfare as well as the tour/cruise/staycation. We learned that most airlines won't reimburse you, even by letting you use a credit on that airline at a later date unless you are flying first class (not business class). Fortunately, most of the family did insure their airfare, which these days is often more than the trip itself. ITravelInsured helped us all along the way with good advice and encouragement. This was helpful because there was so much paperwork.

Our airline cancelled our flight home from New Zealand the night before we were to come home! Spent two extra nights in Christchurch. not a hardship but IMG reimbursed to policy limits for the additional cost. Top notch service.

Great insurance.
They got a website, everything works.
You file a claim, you can check the status.
They'll usually review your claim within a month, fairly.

It's a good option.

I got Covid on my travel to Morocco. I have a prepaid tour which I need to leave because of testing positive. IMG paid for the unused portion of my trip. The claims process were quite stressful at first when I was sick because they ask for a lot of support (of course). They were quite responsive and I got my claim. I appealed because the count of days of claim was short which they did investigate and I got $46 more=).

On my recent trip to Vietnam and Cambodia I had an episode that resulted in a trip to the emergency room in Cambodia, where I was treated and released after multiple tests and a scan after 3 hours. I notified IMG the next day, they acknowledged immediately, but I didn't actually file the claim till after my return home 2 weeks later. I submitted the info they requested and I received payment in full for my expenses. The whole process took less than a month which I think is timely for a claim, and the process was quite simple. I was very pleased with IMG, and I'm going to purchase another policy with them for an upcoming trip at the end of the year.

I had a small amount of damage to my rental car in Italy.I submitted the claim and was denied as being my fault. I appealed twice and finally after 9 months they paid. It turns out they sent someone to the small town in Italy and determined that the narrow streets and my SUV size was a factor in the mishap so it was unavoidable. The appeal process was very frustrating but I was very impressed that they ruled in my favor. I was very surprised that they investigated it after so long. I will use them again in my European travels in the future

Of course, almost everyone who buys travel insurance doesn't use it, and they are only 'satisfied' because it gave them peace of mind. I bought the policy for medical coverage; fortunately nothing happened medically. But on the way home we were delayed by an ice storm for 36 hrs. I didn't realize that the delay was covered by the policy until i was shopping for another trip a couple months later and noticed that coverage. We were outside the designated period for giving them initial notice of a claim, but IMG did not enforce that on us, because we were still inside the period to document the claim. The claim process was OK, but became frustrating. I inadvertently gave an incorrect bank account number when filing the claim. I saw it immediately and wrote a secure message correcting it. I received notice that the claim was paid, but the money did not show up in my account. It took several weeks and multiple calls and emails to finally get them to send the money to the correct account.

There is an important piece of information I want to share with others who need to document a trip delay: IMG does not accept cancellation emails and boarding passes as evidence of the delay. They insist on a letter from the airline documenting the extent of the delay and the reason for it. Initially I was upset by that, because I assumed that such a letter would be impossible to get, and even if you could get one, you would have to wait hours on the phone. Then I learned something that IMG [and insuremytrip.com] should have told me: many airlines, including American, have a link on their website where you can get such a letter, which comes almost immediately by email.

This plan is a waste of money. These people are crooks. They denied my claim just because I purchased the plan months after the initial deposit and not within 20 days. They will have small print for whatever situation you might encounter and then not pay. Stay away from this company. It’s junk.

We had to cancel our trip because our daughter developed a serious illness. The claims process was a nightmare from filing to payment- four months later. It was as if this company has a list of "tricks" that it utilizes to put roadblocks in front of anyone who files a claim. Dropped service rep calls, inconsistent claims information by different reps, claims applications that were "too large" to email, a document uploading software that repeatedly failed. The company required reams of medical and payment documentation and then claimed that the the document file I submitted was "too large for their system. I could go on but I'm sure you get the picture. IMG 's business model is to repeatedly frustrate claimants until many of them give up. I might have too if I hadn't contacted Insure My Trip's customer advocate team. Matthew contacted IMG on my behalf and helped me eventually receive payment. I was one of the lucky ones. Spare yourself hours of misery and do not buy a policy from this company.
