This is the second trip we've purchased travel insurance from Generali. The costs and items covered seemed to be reasonable. I did submit a claim after our first trip, but did not realized any expenses for a covered item had to be incurred while on the trip, not after the trip. Our second trip was to Croatia where I saw a couple of Generali building in various cities. That was reassuring.

Was very pleased we didn't have a reason to file a claim. The process of securing trip insurance was easy and, in my opinion, affordable. I did have to make a last-minute change to our coverage and that process was also very easy.

It was an easy process to obtain a price to insure my trip. I had another quote to compare against. It was very easy to complete my purchase over the phone and get my questions answered as we went along. I was satisfied with my purchase and my coverage.

I increased my insurance twice as I added more trip expense (e.g. hotel reservation). In both cases, in contrast to other insurance that I have purchased through InsureMyTrip, days after my requested increase, I heard nothing. Then I received a voicemail from Generali explaining that I must speak with them to bind the insurance. Very inconvenient, especially since I was already overseas when I got the message.

Our two week Insight tour to Croatia was cancelled due to lack of guests. I was forced to cancel our Lufthansa air because there was no reason to wander around Croatia without a tour.
NY does not allow a cancel for any reason clause in the trip insurance. Insurance premium is not refundable. Most people DO NOT buy refundable air fare. Air is too much and so is the refundable fare.
Insight refunded the tour payment.
We lost our airfare. Generali did not accept our circumstances and did not refund the air fare. Was it a trip interruption? NO! Generali did nothing for us except take our money. They did not offer a voucher for the $556 premium. I can understand their reason that our problem was not covered but in this day and age things are unsettled. Also we made our purchases in good faith. It was beyond our control that the trip was cancelled. We lost a total of $2400.00.
We have used Generali many times. We never had a problem because we never needed to file a claim.

We also offer a free look back period with all of our plans to allow customers to cancel their policies within a designated period as long as they haven't already left on their trip or filed a claim. The plan you purchased includes approximately 20 different covered events under which we can provide coverage if you are forced to cancel your trip. The plan is unfortunately unable to provide coverage for every event that might cause you to cancel.
