I purchased a “cancel for any reason” policy. I made a claim weeks ago and have received a run-around and no payment. The insurance carrier simply plays games despite having no legitimate defense to the claim.

We had to cancel our trip due to a death in the family right before the trip began. The representatives that I spoke with from Nationwide (which does the benefits) were very supportive and made the claim process very manageable. Our claim was processed in a timely manner and we received our refund within a month. We were very pleased with this plan.

I had to file a medical claim after our trip. The claim was filed online. I followed up with an email a few days later and received a reply that my claim was approved with a check to be mailed to me. It was a relatively easy process.

An extremely unprofessional organization. When one files a claim using this company's website, no information is provided on said site about the progress of the claim. In fact, you cannot even use the site to find the details of your original claim submission. This then requires customers to email the company directly and responses are 1) slow in the first place and 2) when received, erroneous. For instance, I had to file two separate claims, one about a damaged suitcase and the other about a damaged laptop. When I followed up about the claim regarding my laptop, a lack of response would require me to write again, only to get a reply about the claim regarding my suitcase. This frustrating back and forth finally resulted in the information that the company would not cover the damage to the laptop.
I advise travelers to avoid this company for their poor handling of claims and correspondence.

Very complex and paperwork intensive claims process that isn't practical when you're overseas in a foreign country. The policy would only be valuable in a catastrophic incident that costed thousands of dollars or more.

This plan uses a middle man to process claims. I can't get through the hoop jumping and defective web site to file a small claim. Theses idiots are wasting my time and seem motivated to block the legitimate claim.

I filed a claim the day I was due to depart on my trip - Covid had struck. I followed the instructions precisely regarding necessary paperwork, and included the letter from my doctor as well as proof of the positive Covid results from a local Urgent Care. I received a check for my claim within 30 days! While the insurance was not cheap, their record (per other reviews) concerning travelers who HAD filed a claim was good, and that sold me. While we never expect nor want to be filing a claim, the policy is only good if in fact we DO need to file. I will use this company again - a better-than-expected experience.
