I finally decided to review a plan I purchased because we had to use it and GoReady came through for us. On the way back from our Caribbean cruise, our flight home to NYC was severely delayed due to bad weather and we filed a claim for trip interruption. We sat on the tarmac for 6+ hours. We got support over email the following day and were reimbursed promptly after providing all documentation (without having to follow up multiple times!) for the extra expenses we wouldn't have had to pay had our trip gone smoothly. Specifically, we were reimbursed for additional Uber costs to get home and incremental fees we owed to our dog sitter for watching and feeding our dogs past the designated pickup time. Had we needed to stay in a hotel or order food during the delay, we would have also been reimbursed as well, but we wanted to get home faster and the restaurants in our airport were already closed by the time we arrived home. Overall, we got back everything we expected, so we're satisfied! We're going on a cruise to Alaska now and plan to purchase this policy again.

After this experience, I will never purchase travel insurance ever again. They covered absolutely nothing. It took forever for the review process. The questions asked during the review process didn't make any sense. And after all the deal, they cover absolutely nothing. I'd heard it was a waste of money. I know what they are talking about now.

When I purchased this policy, it was one of the least expensive of the many that I looked at with comparable coverage so that is why I continue to recommend the April Travel Protection Plan. However, buyer beware that processing times for claims submitted is not efficient or quick as my recent experience shows.
We had a small $120 medical claim for a doctor visit to my hotel room in Germany. I was too sick to leave the room so our B&B contacted a clinic for the doctor to visit me. The Dr. gave me 2 documents, one verifying my personal information, the diagnosis and the amount "liquidated" to pay for the visit and the second one was medical documentation on my condition and treatment given. It took 72 days to get reimbursed on the claim even though all documentation initially requested by the insurer was provided and the claim was filed promptly upon my return. The insurer used a 3rd party processing company which may have slowed everything down. At about 45 days after claim, I called an April customer service representative when I didn't hear anything on the status of the claim. Once that person got involved, it seemed to move the process along or at least to the desk of the 3rd party processor. And if you have any claims make sure you not only keep all receipts and documentation, but those receipts must specifically state the amount billed was "paid", especially if you pay in cash and not by credit card, as we had to do with the Dr visit to our hotel room. The doctor hand wrote the receipt with the amount noted as"liquidated" which wasn't enough proof to them that I had paid. (Doesn't liquidated mean "paid"?) Eventually, it was resolved after the processor contacted the B&B. I assume it was it to "verify" my illness or possibly the requirement that I had to pay in cash? Having said all of the above, I am not sure if the claims processing time or procedures are "par for the course" for travel insurance claims. I am satisfied that the claim was paid, but it took a lot more time, effort and followup than I think it should have on an uncomplicated and small dollar claim.

Do not get sick while covered by April Travel "Protection". My wife got ill in Buenos Aries (BA) and I called April Travel directly. The agent said they have no record of our policy. I called InsureMyTrip they they were EXTREMELY helpful. When I called the agent back from the ER in BA she was CLUELESS - even incorrectly said our cruise was not covered. She said someone would try to get in touch with us for medical help. My cell phone had a "missed call" from Canada. When I called that number back, a recording in French, then English, said their offices were closed! When I call April back, the same agent told me to expect contact from Excel Management, who would assist us. Never got a call. Luckily, our doctor in BA wrote in the Medical Report that we should return to the Denver immediately and we did. The claims saga was even worse - but I'm sure you get the picture.

Directions for documents needed for claim ( trip cancellation) were not clear but when I contacted them it was clear what was needed. I am very satisfied with April and would use them again.

The process to submit a claim was easy, however, the process for them to review the documentation was lengthy and exceeded their SLAs. I had to perform multiple follow ups before they competed their review. However, once complete, they had no follow up questions with my claim documentarion and promptly sent a check.

Unfortunately I became ill so could not go on my planned trip. I contacted April, they emailed me the necessary forms which were easy to understand and complete. I mailed them and received payment very promptly. The agent assigned to my case was very helpful and efficient.

We filed a claim with April because of an injury that made us cut our trip short. While it took about ten weeks for the claim to be processed, in the end, April covered all of our losses without our having to appeal. While the turnaround time on the claim was longer than we were made to expect, we were quite satisfied with how our claim was handled and would certainly turn to them again for travel insurance needs.
