Claimed on our AXA policy and it was paid in 15 days! Amazing service.

Had air delay of over 30 hours on 2nd flight home from Iceland. Had to get motel for the night, 2 meals and 1 extra day for parking at airport. Requested claim form from Insurance and it came promptly by email. Did require documentation of trip payment, insurance payment , reason for flight delay from airline and receipts which I sent by mail. Did receive compensation promptly. This was the first time I ever claimed on travel insurance. The funny thing was I bought the insurance, filled out forms, sent documentation and the checks came in my husbands name. He did share with me!

AXA's USA Platinum trip cancellation insurance was terrible. I purchased trip cancellation insurance that included terrorism coverage. My trip was to Cairo was scheduled to depart three weeks after the Hamas massacre of October 7th and the start of the ongoing war. The US State Dept. warned that terrorism had occurred and was occurring in Cairo. They stated that vacations to Cairo should be "reconsidered" due to terrorism. I cancelled my family trip for five people, relying of the insurance I purchased. I met the three criteria for cancellation coverage in the policy and provided proof to adjusters. AXA denied my claim and my appeal. They made up false reasons to deny the claim , contorted the facts and never really tried to honor their policy. Their terrorism policy does not even define the word terrorism in the policy. If there was ever a reason to honor cancellation insurance, this was it. Cairo was a hotbed of terrorism events and risks when I cancelled. We were terrified to travel and the State Department directives encouraged cancelling. We are appalled that Axa thought we should have gone. They should be ashamed of themselves for selling a useless policy and charging me expensive premiums which they wouldn't refund.
By the way, if you eliminate the five star reviews given by those who never made a claim, you will find a high percentage of claim denials. Buyer beware of this company.

Our trip to Peru was cancelled because of the violence and destruction to the runways and transportation within the country. Our own country advised not to travel to this destination until the situation was safe. We were denied a refund and were only given a credit for future travel. I spent nearly $1,000.00 on the insurance. Even our travel agent in Peru gave us a 100% refund and I would use them again. I would not use this company and the travel agent even recommended Imsuremy trip. Extremely disappointed.

My daughter was diagnosed with a brain tumor a week before we were supposed to leave on our trip. I cancelled right away .
I filed my claim promptly.
I sent in all the paper work.
Every time I call I am told to wait 15 more days

Flight was cancelled due to airline error & employee neglectfulness. I had to reschedule my flight and pay out more for an additional ticket. Sent proof of all my additional expenses to the company since it was supposedly covered under the policy. Only got paid by insurance for a day of delay on the cancelled flight and got no assistance for unexpected rescheduled ticket or additional fees caused by the initial cancellation.

AXA was slow to respond to my claim. The requested supporting documents demonstrated that they had not read my claim nor had they read my plan. In fact, I was asked to provide the confirmation sheets from my own plan among the other supporting documents. It shouldn't be that difficult to file a claim on a canceled flight - it is straightforward and happens all the time. Really disappointed.

I typically buy travel insurance for coverage in case we are unable to make a trip and for medical coverage while traveling. Although most policies have additional coverage I don't put much value to them as the rules are so strict and the coverage so minimal I don't view it as a useful benefit. To my surprise I ended up submitting a claim for delayed travel after a series of flight delays and cancellations extended my arrival time by more than 12 hours and resulted in having to be rerouted to a different destination. The policy covered all my costs for prepaid hotel, transfers, and tours that I missed. It was relatively easy to file the claim. AXA said it would take 30 days to process and on the 30th day I received a direct deposit for the full amount of my claim. Very pleased with the result. It is important to ready the fine print! For example, this policy requires filing a claim within 7 days (because we were in SC we had 30 days) which is really short- we wouldn't even have returned from the trip by then. And the delay had to be for 12 hours to qualify.

The plan seemed competitively priced, although not inexpensive. I did need to file a claim due to missed flights, and lost luggage.
We incurred meal expenses, a minor clothing expense, and lost a night of hotel. The total claim was around $300. I filed about 3 weeks after our trip. I submitted about 6 attachments as proof. Several weeks later, after emailing several times, asking about the status of my claim, I received an email asking for more information. I sent the same documents as well as many more, with a detailed explanation of each attachment to make it simpler for the person reviewing the claim. They also asked for 2 of their forms to be filled out, which I attached. Again, several weeks went by, I emailed and requested my claim be paid. I received ANOTHER request for the same information, stating that they were waiting for the forms which they had previously requested as well as a lot of other information, of which I had already submitted several weeks prior! I was going to call and request that someone actually look at all the data I submitted. I was stealing myself for a long, adversarial phone call, so was waiting until I had time. About a week passed and I received an email from my bank showing a Zelle payment for the full amount of my claim. No email from AXA insurance. Interesting.....
AXA is no better, no worse than other companies for which I have had to make a claim. I think they all drag the claim process out, hoping you will give up so they don't have to pay. They also ask for an exorbitant amount of information. Trip insurance is something that I feel I have to have for most international trips, but I dread having to make a claim. Luckily I didn't have to interact with an agent in this case and they eventually paid my claim. Keep every receipt, every boarding pass, etc in case you have to make a claim!
