Five weeks before the cruise that we purchased insurance for, my husband had emergency open heart surgery. Needless to say, we had to cancel. I filed for insurance reimbursement just after my husband returned from hospitalization and sent it along for processing. Having dealt with other slow-walking cruise insurance providers, I made a follow up phone call to check on the status of our claim about two weeks after I filed.
I was astounded to hear that our claim was already processed and the checks would be arriving shortly. We received our checks late last week. The process for reimbursement took about 3 weeks - dazzling speed. I will purchase any future cruise insurance from this firm again!

Have used HTH several times. Recently had a major muscle injury to my leg a few days before departure. Was not able to travel and took several weeks to recover with PT. The claim for the full trip cost, which was not refundable, was paid by HTH. Took a few weeks to do and went back and forth to provide needed information from provider, doctor and trip information, etc.. Was paid in full, so this is what insurance is for! Highly recommend them. Glad the injury did not happen while in Cuba where I was going. That would have been much harder to deal with there.

I purchased travel protection for our trip to an all inclusive resort in Mexico. The day after arrival I began to develop symptoms of conjunctivitis. Thinking it was my allergies kicking up, I waited a day to see if my allergy medicine would help. It didn’t. The resort had a medical clinic so I made an appointment and saw a very nice doctor who diagnosed me with conjunctivitis and gave me the required eye drops. Symptoms gone 2 days later. The bill was $291.00. The doctor was very familiar with what paperwork I would need to submit my claim so I left the clinic with paperwork in hand.
Upon return home, I called Nationwide and initiated my claim. I needed to gather a little more paperwork for them like the receipt for my trip showing the total cost of the trip, and a photocopy of my passport showing the stamp for entering Mexico. All paperwork submitted 3 days after returning home.
A few days later I received an email from Nationwide stating that they had received my paperwork and were reviewing it.
2 weeks later I was notified that my claim was approved and they were mailing a check.
1 week after that I received a check for the full amount. Yay!
Overall I was very satisfied.
I was also very grateful for the on site medical clinic and the astute doctor who was very well versed in not only dealing with sick tourists, but with insurance paperwork as well!

Trip was canceled 5 days prior to departure due to insured becoming ill with Covid-19. Claim was filed 1/23/24 and is still in review as of today (3/19/24). Additional (duplicate) medical information had to be provided 3 weeks ago. It appears that claims for multiple insurance companies have to be processed by one clearing company and this seems to slow down the slow down settlement time. Plan was not reviewed due to this delay.

I booked a New Year's Eve cruise for 2024 that I had to cancel due to unforseen circumstances. I purchased cancel for any reason insurance
just in case.
I'm glad I did. It was a little more costly, but worth it. I submitted all the paperwork to the Insurance Company and received notification that I would be reimbursed 75% of prepaid nonrefundable trip costs.
It took about thirty days to be notified that the claim would be paid. The claims submission process was relatively seamless, and completed online. Very pleased.

I was on a hiking trip in northern Italy, and fell while descending a peak one morning. When I fell I tore both my quadriceps tendons, needing a rescue helicopter to take me to a hospital. The medical care/copter ride was tremendous in Italy. When I got back to US I filed a claim with this company- it took them almost 9 weeks for them to deny my request for the rescheduled plane ride home, and the fact that I had to travel business class (my legs were in a straight brace, and couldn't bend them. I lost close to $6000 for the rescheduled plane. Avoid this company at all cost! Terrible customer service and terrible coverage

The good news is that my claim was paid in full. However, it took over 60 days for the process to complete. I had to make 5 phone calls and found out that one of my emails to them requesting additional information sat in one of their email folders for 30 days with no action. Overall communication was not great but happy that the claim was paid as requested

Unfortunately, while I was in Cuba, I got sick. I reached out for support and it was pretty lackluster. The representative mentioned there are two doctors but he wasn’t sure what their specialty was or if they were taking patients. I very much felt like I was stuck in Cuba with no support.

Since being home, I’ve attempted to contact the claims department twice by phone and once by email and still haven’t heard anything.
