The trip was canceled by Viking because because they could not come ashore in Hawaii due to Covid. I filed a claim with Generali and they said I would be credited the $600+ on my credit card but I have never received it. Called them and they have not responded. Poor customer service and I will use a different company for my next trip.

regretfully i had to cancel this trip bc of a hip issue that is requiring hip replacement- i could not manage walking or traveling. Generali was great to deal with- helpful staff, easy process and follow thru with full refund. Naturally i needed to provide all documentation re: physician letter, treatment history etc. but absolutely no push back and received full refund promptly. very satisfied.

We purchased this plan for our trip to Glacier. American Airlines canceled our connecting flight and this insurance company is not wanting to pay for us not getting to our first night AirBnB. Said that American Airlines said it was due to completion of pilot duties and that is not covered. It would be covered for weather, mechanical or strike, but not this. Who cares why it happened. This was caused by our flight being canceled by the airlines, not us. We ended up having to purchase new airfare and the cost was exorbitant. I figured we would at least get reimbursed for the first night hotel that we missed if not some of the new airfare. I am very upset and will NEVER recommend this plan again.

    We were able to get payment for our trip in the end. It did take work on my end to speak to a manager and sending more information. American Airlines had canceled a connecting flight due to one of the reasons that had been accepted. I do believe any problem that an airline would cancel for should be covered, but it all worked out in the end. I suggest reviewing and comparing all insurances carefully. Thank you.

Very disappointed in General Global Assistance and its deceptive marketing. We included and paid for "Cancel For Any Reason" except for a "listed covered event" in our coverage. We cancelled it per our own personal misgivings about Covid circumstances. While there were pandemic warnings about international travel, there were no restrictions about our travel.

This was misleading business, and we're very dissatisfied with the company's performance. Not only will we never use it again, it should be a warning to any members of the traveling public who may ever consider employing General Global Assistance.

You really are money grabbers, that's all that matters. You know the trip was cancelled, yet send a message asking about the trip. Your mission statement must be: we have their premium, now do everything to avoid paying a claim. We filed, you knew you would not cover covid, we were sent jumping through hoops, then denied the claim. Mission accomplished! We will discourage any and all from generali.

As stated in our policy documents, our plans only reimburse for non-refundable, pre-paid trip costs if you need to cancel your trip for a covered reason. Generali Global Assistance plans do not offer coverage if you cancel your trip due to fear of traveling due to Coronavirus, unless you added Trip Cancellation for Any Reason coverage. However, our plans can help if you are diagnosed with Coronavirus before or during your trip. You just need to meet the standard requirements for coverage due to sickness, and our plans can assist you with Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Travel Delay, Medical & Dental, and Emergency Assistance & Transportation. It is important that you review your Description of Coverage, which are available before and after your purchase. We take the claims process very seriously and want our customers to make informed choices when purchasing travel insurance."

On June 14 I booked a one-way ticket to return to my home Country the United States after my visit to Argentina, paid $1,672. The departure date was scheduled for Tuesday June 29.

Unfortunately, a day before the trip I received a cancelation from American Airlines, which did not give me the option to rebook/reschedule the flight at least until August 3 (a months later!). After several communications with the airline nobody was able to assign me a new flight to return to the US at least until August 3. Many customer services agents suggested me to verify the availability in AA.com, and immediately book a new ticket if something became available, not waiting to call back the call center as the availability could change in the meanwhile.

This is what I did, I identified an available seat and paid for a totally new air ticket $3,376. Flying the day before, on June 28.

Once at home, I filed a claim with Generali, under the 'Trip Interruption Benefit', asking the Travel Insurance Company to cover ONLY the price difference between the two tickets (the original -canceled- flight has been refunded by the Airline). This was under the general understanding that the Airline was not able to accommodate me in one of your airplanes back to US.

The Insurance Company asked me to request the Airline the 'reason of the flight cancelation'. I gathered that information and shared with the Claims Representative from Generali, having back a nasty surprise: they have rejected the claim with the following reason: 'According to the documentation provided, the flight was canceled due to Airline schedule change...'

So, basically, if the Airline has Logistics issues and have to cancel your flight, you will NOT be covered by Generali Global Assistance. This is terrible, and real! The fine print on their policy is terrible. Do not buy from them, I've a clear case in which they have not covered a basic stuff.

I'm planning to engage a lawyer and fight for my rights! This is a typical case of Travel Insurance abuse!

I had to file a claim because my plane had mechanical problems. which impacted my trip. Generali Global Assistance responded promptly to my claim and approved the claim. I always worry that that an insurance company will try to find a loophole in a claim to not pay and this was not the case. Highly recommended!!!
