Berkshire Hathaway was an excellent company from which to obtain travel insurance. Their policy was reasonably priced, and included what I needed to cover my trip. As it turned out, my brother became gravely ill, and We had to cancel our trip. Berkshire Hathaway processed our claim, and full payment, in a timely manner. I would highly recommend!

My tablet screen cracked while on my trip. And my insurance covered up to a certain amount for baggage and personal effects. So I called them Friday while on my trip. I was emailed within two days just as promised with the claim paperwork. I finished the required paperwork on Tuesday. Then that very afternoon my claim was approved. And the next Monday I got my check! I am very happy with this insurance.

Very very pleased with our plan from Berkshire Hathaway, when tragedy struck in the form of cancer before our trip to Aruba they covered us 100%. It takes about 2 weeks to process and they are the nicest people to deal with. Highly recommended!

Of course I didn't expect to use the policy. My grandmother had a stroke on my trip ,and my mom and I had to come rushing back to the U.S. We were sure to save our receipts so we could provide proper documentation. It took us awhile to actually submit our claims, but they were paid quickly. The limits (which we paid little attention to when getting the policy, because we didn't dream we'd actually use it) meant we didn't get every last dollar back. But we got everything allowed by the policy, which definitely lessened the sting of the family emergency and my grandmother's situation.

Had to file a claim because Irma destroyed our destination. Claims process was very easy, they sent me the claim form and a list of items to provide showing our losses. The list was in no way cumbersome, and I easily provided the documentation they needed. Once I submitted the claim, the money was deposited into my bank account within 3 days. Very pleased and I've purchased the same policy again for our replacement trip.

I had a claim - I had to return early due to family illness. I started a claim w/ Berkshire Hathaway and rep sounded OK. Then I got their emailed long list of 13 Dr. statements, ID copies, consent forms, hotel receipts, cancellation policy of the airline[s], ticket copies, ticket numbers, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. they needed before they could begin to review my claim.

It would have taken me hours to get all this material together, if I could of at all. I would guess this is a technique they use to minimize payouts. I feel it would be a waste of my time to try to collect everything they wanted.

I thought one of Warren's companies would be better than this!!! Interesting dichotomy - ins. companies want to sell policies, but then they don't want to pay....

MATERIAL THEY WANTED:
I understand you needed to file a claim for Trip Interruption. We are happy to review your claim once we receive the following information:
Completed claim form - attached.
Patient consent form – must be physically signed (no electronic signatures).
Copy of the trip invoice showing dates of travel, trip costs, and payments for the trip.
Copy of the cancellation policy from the airline, cruise line, hotel, etc. to support the claim for non-refundable items.
Proof of payment for all trip costs.
Proof of any refunds received for the cancelled portions of this trip.
The original airline tickets if they are non-refundable. If you were issued e-tickets, please provide the e-ticket passenger receipt. If they were booked online, please provide the printed ticket confirmation sheet showing your ticket numbers.
Verification of age - a copy of government issued ID or birth certificate.
Proof of reason for the claim - a signed statement from the treating, admitting or discharging physician stating the diagnosis, date of diagnosis, dates of treatment.
Proof of travel – such as a copy of your boarding pass or hotel receipt.
Any other appropriate documentation that may assist in the processing of this claim.
Copies of any newly purchased airline tickets.
Proof of payment for any newly purchased airline tickets.
Once this documentation is received we will review your claim promptly.

I developed chest pain and was admitted to the ICU in a small hospital 2 hours from Managua. We called the customer service line and they took care of all the logistics to fly me home to Ft Lauderdale in a Lear Jet air ambulance the next day. Very pleased and grateful for the service I received.
