The process for purchasing was easy and I appreciate that they send you the electronic copy of your coverage right away. My husband and I ended up having to file a baggage delay claim. Our luggage did not arrive at our destination until 5 days later. This was during Christmas and New Years so you can imagine how stressful it was for us. The last thing we wanted to do after spending a lot on holiday gifts and vacation was to incur more expenses due to delayed luggage. Since I have the app on my phone I re-read the terms while abroad and that helped me a lot in preparing the claim for example there was a number to call, I learned that I need to first file through the airline before my insurance would cover anything the airline won't pay. So I was able to file for Property Irregularity Report at the airport the same day we lost our baggage. Then got the proof of delivery form after we picked up our baggage. The customer service was helpful in answering my questions. The examiner processed our claim fast. For example, we filed on Jan 4 and sent the additional documents on Jan 8. We got paid on Jan 16. We got reimbursed $410 for all expenses incurred such as toiletries, clothes and shoes we needed while we're waiting for our baggage. Our insurance cost $200 so they are well worth it. I'd definitely recommend them and I will use them again.

This was the second time I filed a claim with Tokio Marine HCC - both times due to weather, in one case, a typhoon. Although I had some difficulty obtaining what was needed from the airline that cancelled my domestic flight a statement indicating it was due to weather, they accepted the information I found on an airport website that listed all the flights cancelled due to the typhoon. Of course, my flight was listed. I will happily select this company again.

I had to submit the claim twice before I even received a response that the claim was received and will be processed, however after that point it was processed quickly without any further delays or issues.

After buying insurance for years, I had two claims with this company this year. Both times, they tried to not pay and made it difficult to collect on my trip delays.
The first time they didn't pay $60, because they try to figure out ways not to pay. The next they did not pay, as even though I was clearly delayed, they found a way to exclude the amount I had to pay to get home.
The second time they made me call repeatedly to get explanations.
It really makes me wonder whether getting insurance to cover Trip Delay is worth it.

I presumed incorrectly that a state of emergency and a curfew would be cause for a covered trip cancellation. Apparently this is not considered terrorism.

We appreciate your feedback. Although we understand your disappointment, an incident is only defined as terrorism if it is deemed a terrorist act by the United States Government. This is true for all the plans on our website.
Your Tokio Marine HCC policy specifically states that a "Terrorist Incident means an incident deemed a terrorist act by the United States Government that causes property damage or Loss of life".

this was the first time I had ever bought travel insurance and I will never go without it again. I had an unexpected illness that required medical treatment both onboard the ship and in port, including minor surgery on one of the wildest days of my life, a long stop in St. Thomas. thank goodness I had insurance. filing the claim was straight forward mostly, and the responses they gave and the prompt payment sent, made me very comfortable recommending them.

I filed multiple claims with extensive documentation. They chose to barely communicate with me. Every time I called them on the phone they said they prefer to do communication via postal mail (letters). It took an extremely long time to get any information or decision from them. They generally refused to respond to emails and their phone representatives don't have much information or resources available to them.
In the end they denied most of my claims without reason. They did pay out one of my claims eventually, but they did not notify me about it via email. I just noticed a wire transfer from them my bank statement and contacted them about it and they confirmed it was them. I didn't bother to continue appealing for my denied claims because they take so long to respond and I have better things to do.
Due to very poor communication and customer service, I would not recommend them.

Had to go to Urgent Care due to food poisoning. They were able to accept my insurance ID right away so I didn't have to file a claim after the fact. Highly recommended!
