Travel Insurance Reviews for Travelex

For some reason, I've always been a little skeptical of travel insurance, but with a big trip to Italy, Spain and France planned for just my son and I, I Googled, Yelped and generally researched options. I chose Travelex through InsureMyTrip and then thought, well, that's probably a waste of my money. Wrong! I was biking in Italy, had an accident and tumbled down an embankment. No serious injuries, but I did end up in a doctor's office to be patched up and have some x-rays taken. I got a handwritten receipt. A few days after returning home, I filled out the form for a claim and sent it off. Less than 3 weeks later the Travelex check from their underwriter, Stonebridge Casualty, arrived for the full amount. Wow. No hassle. I'd use Travelex and InsureMyTrip again in a flash.

We had terrific service with Travelex. Filing a claim was very easy. The required documentation was simple and readily available. Our claim was paid promptly in full. We will definitely use Travelex again.

I was very pleased with the plan and would recommend it to others. A suggestion I might make is to tell customers when they take out the plan to be sure and save their flight and cruise plan since it is asked for if a claim is filed. I was not prepared for that request and although everything worked out well, it might have been easier if had not thrown out those things. Our return to home flight was cancelled due to the volcanic eruption in Iceland in late May/2011. We were delayed 4 days until I purchased return tickets for my wife and me. The total cost of the tickets, additional lodging and meal expenses ( all of which were documented) were reimbursed to me within aprox one month of our return. I couldn't ask for better service. I also must thank the people at InsureMyTrip for their help in getting into contact with and follow through with Travelex.

We purchased the insurance within a few days of our deposit, so we were eligible for the cancel for any reason coverage. About 2 months before our trip, I broke my leg and was unable to travel. We were promptly reimbursed for our full airfare and the non-refunded portion of our cruise cost.
