We purchased CSA Travel Protection Custom plan through InsureMyTrip for our two week trip to Europe. The flight, high speed train, and cruise purchases were all heavily discounted and were not transferable or refundable. In addition, we booked hotel rooms in Milan and Rome.
My husband got violently ill the evening before we were to start our trip back home. We were scheduled to leave our Rome hotel the next morning to take a high speed train to catch our flight back home. Everything had been arranged and paid for months in advance.
I called CSA the evening my husband got sick. At that point, I was not sure if he would feel well enough to travel. They started a claim and asked me to call in the morning. I called them back at 4am because he was still too sick to travel home. Unbelievably, CSA sent an English speaking doctor directly to the hotel. The doctor arrived about 8 am. He gave my husband a shot for the immediate symptoms, and wrote a number of prescriptions. The doctor was paid for by CSA so we were not charged for his visit.
Ultimately, we missed our train trip to Milan, our flight home, and had to spend another night at the Rome hotel. After a number of calls, CSA arranged our flight home from Rome the next day. Since my husband’s flight home was considered part of the Medical part of the insurance policy and mine was Travel Delay, they paid for his flight home, but I had to pay $2,000 for my flight, and submit later for reimbursement.
I decided to wait until after reimbursement before I wrote this review. The bottom line is that CSA fully reimbursed us for everything including the cell phone calls to and from their office, the train trip from Rome to Milan, the taxi ride to the Rome airport, and the flight home. They also fully reimbursed us for the extra night in the hotel and for meals on the extra day. The total reimbursement was about $3000. Since the policy cost about $187, it was one of the best purchases that I ever made. I would highly recommend CSA. With the exception of a little bit of confusion arranging our last minute flight home, everyone I spoke to was efficient, helpful and professional. The claim was handled perfectly without any questioning or argument.
