I lost my backpack in Florence, Italy. I filed a police report the same day and filed my claim upon arrival home. Luckily I had kept most receipts necessary, including replacement items that I needed for the rest of my trip. I feel that the claim was processed promptly and fairly. I received about 75% of the cost to replace all items.

Do not buy travel insurance from this company! My trip was interrupted by circumstances entirely out of my control, but I was told that the "circumstances were not covered"! So what is covered?

I became ill and had to see a doctor while on a cruise. I actually had to go to the ship's medical center twice and get several prescriptions. When I returned home, I filed a claim with CSA, and my own health insurance that I have through my employer. Between the two, my claim was covered 100%. I am very glad I got the travel protection.

We purchased CSA Travel Protection Custom plan through InsureMyTrip for our two week trip to Europe. The flight, high speed train, and cruise purchases were all heavily discounted and were not transferable or refundable. In addition, we booked hotel rooms in Milan and Rome.

My husband got violently ill the evening before we were to start our trip back home. We were scheduled to leave our Rome hotel the next morning to take a high speed train to catch our flight back home. Everything had been arranged and paid for months in advance.

I called CSA the evening my husband got sick. At that point, I was not sure if he would feel well enough to travel. They started a claim and asked me to call in the morning. I called them back at 4am because he was still too sick to travel home. Unbelievably, CSA sent an English speaking doctor directly to the hotel. The doctor arrived about 8 am. He gave my husband a shot for the immediate symptoms, and wrote a number of prescriptions. The doctor was paid for by CSA so we were not charged for his visit.

Ultimately, we missed our train trip to Milan, our flight home, and had to spend another night at the Rome hotel. After a number of calls, CSA arranged our flight home from Rome the next day. Since my husband’s flight home was considered part of the Medical part of the insurance policy and mine was Travel Delay, they paid for his flight home, but I had to pay $2,000 for my flight, and submit later for reimbursement.

I decided to wait until after reimbursement before I wrote this review. The bottom line is that CSA fully reimbursed us for everything including the cell phone calls to and from their office, the train trip from Rome to Milan, the taxi ride to the Rome airport, and the flight home. They also fully reimbursed us for the extra night in the hotel and for meals on the extra day. The total reimbursement was about $3000. Since the policy cost about $187, it was one of the best purchases that I ever made. I would highly recommend CSA. With the exception of a little bit of confusion arranging our last minute flight home, everyone I spoke to was efficient, helpful and professional. The claim was handled perfectly without any questioning or argument.

My husband had to be hospitalized, and we had to cancel our trip. I contacted the cruise-line, airline, and CSA. I submitted all information requested via email, and had a check for my lost expenses in less the 3 weeks. I'm going to use CSA again for a future trip, and I am sure we will not need to, but prevention is everything.

When the insurance company was called, they told us to contact to airline directly. We would not have known that, and the airline refunded the cost which we also would not have known. The claims department sent a letter saying they received our completed forms, that was very helpful. They also sent a letter stating they were writing the hotel to verify information. It was helpful to know the process they were going through. Very quickly after that, we received a check for the full amount we requested.

Our travel was delayed 30 hours by a pilots strike. Consequently we missed an entire day of a prepaid guided tour. Very thorough record keeping meant that we were able to recoup most of our expenses during the delay and receive reimbursement for the portion of the tour that was missed. Once all of our documentation was submitted CSA was prompt and fair in the handling of our claim. I would buy insurance from them again.
