We got caught in the airline pilot "sick out" the last weekend of October, which caused us to miss our international flight from Miami to Quito Ecuador and miss the 1st day of a trip to the Amazon Rainforest. On November 19, the morning after we flew home, I filed my claim. I had to keep emailing for a progress report and was finally told it would take 57 days to process. I emailed on Day 57, January 19th; I was finally assigned an adjuster who asked me to re-submit all documents. I did that same day and was told it could take 6 wks to process. Today, February 28th, I finally got a check for my claim, $1030.

This is the first time we have ever purchased trip cancellation insurance, and we're so glad we did. We had to cancel our entire trip two days before departure because of an unexpected medical issue. Customer service was very helpful. We appreciated being able to submit the claim forms as a PDF by email. We received a check for full reimbursement about 15 business days after claim submission, with no hassle. Fully satisfied.

    My experience is the opposite.
    I bought "Cancel for Any Reason" which should be a no brainer for them! Nada-nothing-just stalling and delays.22 days out.

      You will be very pleased to hear that the John Hancock claims department issued and mailed your check on April 14, 2017, so you should soon be receiving payment. Most insurance companies request that claimants allow up to 30 days after they receive your paperwork to review and process a claim. John Hancock claims department makes every effort to streamline their claims processing which enabled them to settle your check within only 22 days.

We had to file a claim for the first time ever because one of us got sick on the trip. They handled it quickly and with no hassle. The claim form itself was detailed, but also easy to complete. While trip insurance seems somewhat expensive to me, it's a lot more expensive not to have it!

I submitted a claim for a December 2012 trip that was cancelled, and I received a reimbursement check within two weeks. The agents I spoke with were courteous and professional. I would use this company again and will recommend it to friends.
