Travelex Travel Select
Travelex did cover a large amount of our claim and were responsive to requests for clarification. That said, the process was very cumbersome. We filled out pages and pages of paperwork to process the claim, which took months, and then they mailed us a check with no explanation. The process was certainly not easy, nor simple, after experiencing an incredible trauma on vacation.

In the future, please reach out to InsureMyTrip and request a customer advocate. Our customer advocates can assist customers with submitting claim documentation, and can attempt to expedite the claims process.

I was reasonably happy with this plan, and would recommend it to other travelers. Before my trip, the government issued an advisory against traveling to Kenya. I called Travelex, and discovered that they would not cover us if we decided to cancel, since the terrorist attack prompting the advisory did not occur in a city on our itinerary. That is in the policy, so fair enough, I suppose. We ended up taking the trip, and had no problems in Kenya. However, we missed a connection in London due to inclement weather. We had to pay for food, transportation, and 2 nights at an airport hotel. Plus, we had no baggage, so we had to buy clothes. I called Travelex on our return home to initiate the claim. The representative sent me a form and instructions, and I submitted hotel, food , transportation and clothing receipts. Travelex paid for all but the clothing, and only then let us know that we had to make a separate claim for a baggage delay. I filled out the new form, resubmitted all the clothing receipts, and sure enough, we were reimbursed for the money spent. Everything worked out well in the end, so my only gripe was that the process was slow and had to be repeated, because the representative didn't explain that I would need to make two separate claims.

This plan did not require processing the claim through our personal health insurance; thus, we submitted our request for reimbursement of medical expenses incurred on our trip directly to Travelex. Our claim was approved and we eventually received our refund.

During the month that transpired from when I mailed the claim to receipt of a check, I called twice to track status of the claim. I called a week after mailing the paperwork to confirm that it had been received. The claims representative told me that processing would take 3 weeks. I called again at the 3 week mark and was told that a decision would be made by the end of the week. I told the claims representative that I was shopping for travel insurance for two international trips that we plan to make next year and that I was hesitant to use Travelex again due to the extended processing time for claims. Her response was "you can do what you want, but claims processing takes 3 weeks." I was quite taken aback at this response, I have worked in Customer Service and I would never put off a customer as she did.

I might use Travelex again if the price is right and the coverage is appropriate for our needs. I will have to prepare myself, however, for less that professional service from the claims department representatives if need arises to contact them.

Primary coverage means that the travel insurance provider will reimburse without requiring the involvement of primary collectible insurance. We are sorry to learn that you were dissatisfied with the customer service you received from the claims department and length of time it took to process the claim. Generally, travel insurance claims can take up to 4 weeks to complete. However, for customers who feel like the claims process is taking an usually long time, InsureMyTrip can assign a customer advocate to attempt to expedite the claim. Our representatives are available 7 days a week by calling 800-487-4722.

Unfortunately illness prevented me from taking the trip to Europe. But happily I had Travelex insurance with pre-trip cancellation coverage. Travelex took almost a month to process and pay the claim, but overall I am satisfied with Travelex. This is the second time I've had an overall good experience with them. I will use Travelex again for future trip insurance.

The process was seamless. Submitted all my receipts for surgery in Solvenia and the daily wound care as we traveled for the next 12 days, not being sure what I was submitting as they were from 3 different countries and currencies. The whole amount submitted was paid without a question in three weeks time.

We had to cancel a trip due to health reasons and, much to my relief, Travelex paid the claim promptly. Everyone I spoke to on the phone was helpful and I have always had good experiences with them in the past. However, I had never filed a claim before, and I was a little concerned that the insurance company would look for small, nit-picky reasons not to pay the claim, and/or create onerous administrative processes. That was not the case here -- I filed the paperwork and had a check in my mailbox about 2 weeks later. I'm rating them at 4-stars for claim processing instead of the top mark of 5-stars only because they made an error in calculating the claim amount, which required a few phone calls to fix -- though again to their credit, they promptly sent a second check for the remaining amount. The claims process would benefit from some modernization, as well -- I had to send hard copy forms in by fax or mail, when it would have been easier just to file the claim online and upload my documentation.

Unfortunately, for the first time in 30 years I had to file a claim when I fell and was unable to leave on my trip. Claim application was sent immediately with clear directions for filing, and the refund was issued promptly with no hassle. Will use them again and recommend highly. Thank you Travelex!
