C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Lite
Read the Fine Print, which is difficult because it's long and confusing. I've bought many policies over the years, and thankfully have only had to file a claim once before when the vacation rental we booked was damaged due to flooding. On this trip, our flight was delayed 30+ hours and we spent it at the airport waiting for another airplane. We missed one night of our prepaid hotel room which was $800+. I guess I was naive to believe that the trip insurance would cover the cost of an unused prepaid hotel room. They reimbursed us for trip a trip delay, which is $100 max per person, per day. I was under the presumption that trip delay was for additional hotel/food expenses due to trip delay, but not for prepaid lodging. Apparently their is no reimbursement for unused prepaid lodging with the plan I purchased, which wasn't cheap, by the way. It was my mistake not to read the fine print (or perhaps understand it), so I'm writing this to make sure others don't experience the same disappointment I'm experiencing right now. And when I called to inquire about the result of the claim, they we not helpful, friendly or courteous.

    Although you have already stressed several times to "Read the fine print", that is really the only way to understand your policy limitations.

    Crum and Forster Travel Insured does offer three levels of coverage. Although you chose the Worldwide Trip Protector Lite plan, in the future you may wish to consider the Worldwide Trip Protector or the Worldwide Trip Protector Plus with higher Travel Delay limits. Nevertheless, your prepaid non-refundable travel expense will still be reimbursed under the Travel Delay coverage with its daily and maximum limitations.

    You may also wish to call us before you purchase. InsureMyTrip is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, and our customer care representatives are licensed insurance agents who are able to recommend the most cost effective plans which will cover the travelers primary concerns. First time I ever needed to file a claim for travel insurance and it was for medical care on the ship. Took awhile to submit the claim since it had to be denied by my primary health insurance first. After all of that was completed, the time C&F had the claim was short and paid promptly in full. Happy that they paid it all as it amounted to almost $2400!

My claim was eventually paid after 9-12 weeks, but the experience was horrible. C&F's website apparently doesn't work properly (they alleged they couldn't see some uploaded documents that were in my claims folder, yet saw others of the same format with no problem.) It took multiple calls, emails, and complaints via the website help desk to get my unresponsive claim adjuster moving on my claim or to even respond to documentation. As an insurance claims professional (P&C) myself, I was incredibly displeased and it got to the point where I said I wanted all communication in writing in case I had to purse this further. Suddenly, my claim was paid. I had a previous travel insurance claim in 2013 with another carrier that went perfectly. I just cannot recommend C&F after this experience. The product is fine, the service is horrendous.

delay, delay, and more delay. Every time they asked for more info which could have been requested initially. Each time they promised to answer within 10 days. they took exactly 10 days and then asked for more info. Calls to specific person who responded were not returned even though I left 8 messages over 8 days.

    It appears that you originally submitted your claim back on 01/06/2019 and, as you state, there was a lot of back and forth going on between you and the Crum and Forster Travel Insured claims department.

    Usually the company is able to settle claims within 30 days. However, there is an occasional delay in the process. This was the second time we used Travel Insured International. The first time, we did file a claim which was promptly handled to our satisfaction. The second time (April 2019) we did not file a claim.

Only one claim analyst and it was so hard to get a hold of her. She kept saying it almost done but I had to call almost every other week to ask for status after waiting for 2 months. It took 3 months to get the check

First time we ever filed a travel insurance claims--I thought it might be a grind, long delays and having to provide more and more documentation. Instead, I filed all our receipts, described our trip interruption and what we did to make our way home. Less than 2 weeks later, the full claim amount was accepted without our having to do anything else. Direct deposit is on its way. This is how insurance is supposed to work!
