Overall the AXA Assistance USA Gold plan was very good and fairly priced. We had a luggage claim which was handled to our satisfaction. However, the processing time was slower than expected.

My wife had medical problems and required hospitalization as well as a medical return flight. Dealing with AXA to get moved to a different hospitalization and then to get a medical flight home was a nightmare. They said we just need the attending physician to confirm that she is stable enough to fly but not strong enough to go on a commercial flight. That was done an then seven days later they were able to arrange a flight. The company that flew us home said that when they were finally contacted it took twenty minutes to put the pieces together, not seven days.
It almost appears that they were just waiting and hoping that the patient would either die or become too weak to fly on a medical flight.
In addition, they do not seem to have people capable of speaking foreign languages. They should not be in business.

Our first time ever to buy travel insurance. Picked AXA after reading reviews on InsureMyTrip. We were unable to travel so we submitted the paperwork AXA required and filed a claim for our trip costing $22,000. About two weeks later, AXA notified us that our claim was approved and mailed us a check. Look no further.

I've used AXA Assistance USA Gold plan twice, both times I had to use it unfortunately. Once for a trip delay caused by the airline, another time for an illness. Both times they processed it relatively quickly, were very kind over the phone, and fulfilled our claim. I recommend AXA Assistance and will continue to use them for my travels.

Something happened with our luck on that trip and we had to file more than one claim. First one was for delayed luggage for the international flight. Second one was for broken luggage for another part of our trip. Both cases were handled relatively fast by AXA Assistance USA without any hassle and trouble. We provided all information required via email. Phone communication with agents on all occasions was very good: courteous and professional. I would re-use AXA Assistance USA in my future travels.

I didn't file a claim this trip but did file a claim last year. I used them again this year as the service and claim process was very easy and know hassle and all. I will always use this company when I travel as they were timely and efficient with my claim with great customer service.

A week before leaving on a 3 week trip to Japan I suffered an accident that required surgery and was obliged to cancel the trip. Everyone I spoke to prior to filing the claim was delightful and helpful. The forms were not difficult to fill out nor was the supporting documentation that is required unreasonable. The claim was promptly acknowledged and processed within the stated timeframe (about 30 days). Payment will be prompt and comprehensive. I am very highly satisfied and would recommend this plan. It is a good value for the cost and allows me to rebook the trip next year.

The AXA Platinum plan provided the best mix of trip and medical protection of the many I had to choose from on InsureMyTrip. My only complaint is the lackluster level of response I got from their customer service and claims department when I filed a medical claim.

My wife passed out and was unresponsive for several minutes on one of our first days of the trip. At a doctor's suggestion we took her to an International Medical Clinic location in Beijing. There they performed many tests and gave her a saline drip and pills to take after leaving the clinic. The charge was just under $1,700. I had the clinic call the AXA claims number at the time of service and they were advised that I should pay the bill and submit the claim once I returned home. That was OK with me. I then e-mailed the AXA claims department to summarize the incident and ask for directions on how to process the claim. I got no response, so several days later I resent the e-mail and finally received a reply with instructions for claim filing.

The day after returning home I filled out the required forms and sent all the information via USPS Priority Mail to AXA. I also sent an e-mail telling them to expect the claim and asking them to let me know when it arrived and if any additional information was needed. They received the claim on 9/23/15 but did not notify me that it had arrived. I followed up with another e-mail on 10/5/15 to ask for a status report. I was finally notified by e-mail on 10/13/15 that the claim had been received and on 10/16/15 that it had been approved. So, AXA honored the claim as they should have and all is well from a reimbursement point of view.

My complaint is the unresponsiveness of the claims department. All e-mails from a customer should be acknowledged within 24 hours if to do nothing else than to say that they were aware of the claim and the e-mail. Once a claim is received the customer should be notified within 24 hours and given some idea of what to expect in terms of processing time. To wait to acknowledge receipt of a claim for several weeks in unacceptable. Claimants want to know that documents have been received and the status of processing their claim. I can't believe this would be burdensome for AXA and would be of a real benefit to the customer.

All's well that ends well. I just hope that AXA can improve their customer response procedures. A claim may be a small thing for them but a big thing to the client.

We were very pleased with the timely and smooth way the AXA Assistance USA Gold insurance paid for our claim. I would recommend AXA Assistance USA highly to everyone. It was difficult to choose the insurance company from the many on the website list. We were so pleased we chose AXA. We submitted all the required paperwork, and they paid promptly. What a relief to work with such professionals
